As a lifelong anime enthusiast who’s seen more episodes of “One Piece” than I care to admit, it’s thrilling to see the Cross Guild making waves, both in the anime and in real life! The casting of Joe Manganiello as Crocodile is a fantastic choice, and I can only imagine the epic battles we’ll witness when he finally faces off against Luffy.
The highly anticipated fight between Logan Paul and Mike Tyson on Netflix has dominated news for a mix of positive and negative reasons. Although the event was marred by technical difficulties on the streaming platform, many viewers were left disappointed as the match didn’t meet the lofty expectations of avid boxing fans. However, anime lovers might be taken aback to find out that the Grand Line played a role in this event. Although the Cross Guild hasn’t assembled yet in the live-action version of One Piece, the actors haven’t let that stop them from banding together to watch the boxing spectacle.
During this year’s Netflix Geeked Week, it was announced that one of the last remaining members of the Cross Guild from One Piece was cast. Known for his roles in Magic Mike, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, How I Met Your Mother, and many others, Joe Manganiello has now officially been assigned to play Crocodile in the live-action second season. Since the live-action adaptation is based on the manga, it seems unlikely that the Cross Guild will fully assemble in season two. However, this didn’t stop Joe Manganiello from expressing appreciation for the actor who portrayed Dracule Mihawk, Steven John Ward.

The One Piece Was The Paul/Logan Fight All Along
As a die-hard fan, I excitedly hopped onto Joe Manganiello’s Instagram account, where he posted an enthralling snapshot featuring him alongside the actor embodying Dracule Mihawk. Though Mihawk captivated us during One Piece’s initial Netflix season, we haven’t witnessed Crocodile making a splash yet. With tantalizing hints of what’s to come in the upcoming second season, it seems unlikely that Crocodile will engage in combat with Luffy. However, we can anticipate glimpses into the formidable might of this sinister swashbuckler.
To remind those who may have forgotten: The main objective of Crocodile, leader of Baroqueworks, is his desire to claim Alabasta, a desert region, as his own territory. As a villain with Devil Fruit abilities, he can seamlessly blend into Alabasta due to his ability to change and control sand. Given Luffy’s rubber powers, this makes Crocodile a formidable adversary for the Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates.
The Cross Guild’s Future
In the shonen series “One Piece”, though the live-action adaptation may require years before delving into the arc involving the Cross Guild, Crocodile, Mihawk, and Buggy are making significant strides in the finale. Concurrently, the Straw Hat Pirates grapple with the World Government due to Dr. Vegapunk’s machinations in the Future Island Arc. Meanwhile, the Cross Guild has set their sights on uncovering the One Piece treasure, a secret that fans have pondered for decades. It remains possible that the Cross Guild could be the pirates who finally reveal this enigma.
In the narrative of “One Piece,” while Crocodile and Mihawk are currently strong characters, Buggy appears more like a captive of the Cross Guild rather than its leader. For much of his pirate life, Buggy has managed to climb the ranks despite multiple failures, reaching the status of an Emperor of the Sea. However, it seems that the consequences of those past failures have caught up with him now, as he finds himself a pawn in the Cross Guild’s mission to find the One Piece.
