One-Punch Man, Fairy Tail Actor Fired by Agency Over "Serious Breach"

As a long-time anime fan and follower of the voice acting scene in Japan, I’ve seen it all – from heartwarming success stories to heartbreaking downfalls like the one involving Itaru Yamamoto. The news about his contract breach and subsequent departure from I’m Enterprise came as quite a shock.

In the realm of anime production, securing a voice acting position is highly sought after. Ranging from VA schools to seiyuu idols, the Japanese animation industry elevates voice actors to genuine stardom. Despite its challenges, the top vocalists have demonstrated that voice acting roles can be incredibly fulfilling. However, like any job, it also has its share of difficulties. A recent report from Japan revealed that One-Punch Man‘s voice actor, Itaru Yamamoto, was dismissed from his agency due to a violation of contract terms.

The news is from I’m Enterprise, a talent agency that works with Japanese voice actors. They’ve announced they’ve terminated their agreement with Yamamoto, effective as of September 14th. Details about why Yamamoto left are scarce, but the agency stated it was due to a “significant breach of contract.” Additionally, I’m Enterprise has communicated that Yamamoto will no longer be associated with the entertainment industry.

In the immediate future, the team responsible for “Transformers One” is in a flurry of activity. Previously voiced by Kouji Yamamoto, Soundwave in the latest animated adaptation; however, a re-dubbing process is underway. As reported by staff, Yoji Ueda will now be the voice of Soundwave in the revised “Transformers One” dub. The updated audio’s release date remains undisclosed, so for the time being, Yamamoto’s portrayal of Soundwave can still be seen on movie screens.

Who is Itaru Yamamoto?

Besides starring in “Transformers One”, Yamamoto is also featured in “Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest” as Madmole. However, there’s no information yet on how his role will be managed following this contract violation. Yamamoto has also been seen in popular series like “One-Punch Man” (Sourface), “Jujutsu Kaisen 0”, and more. Yamamoto started voice acting around a decade back with “Gintama” in 2011, and since then, he’s accumulated numerous roles. Unfortunately, a significant contract breach has led to Yamamoto leaving the industry entirely, and fans are eagerly awaiting updates on recasting.
