As a seasoned anime enthusiast with over two decades of watching and reading under my belt, I must say that the latest twist in One-Punch Man is as intriguing as it is unexpected. Empty Void, a character who once seemed to be just another ninja from Speed-o-Sound Sonic’s village, has now taken center stage, revealing himself as a potential threat even greater than Garou.
Fans of One-Punch Man eagerly anticipate the release of its third season, with no official date announced so far. However, Saitama’s manga remains captivating as it delves deep into the franchise’s most intense battles. Though Saitama may not be participating in the current conflict unfolding within the comic series, it doesn’t diminish the significant disclosures that are being unveiled amidst the action. One such disclosure centers around the “evil god” who had previously empowered Hero Killer Garou and a betrayal brewing concerning a major new adversary.
heads up! if you haven’t read the latest chapter (Chapter 211) of One-Punch Man’s manga, be prepared for significant spoilers. Currently, the story revolves around battles that occur post the defeat of the Monster Association and Saitama encountering a formidable opponent in Garou. However, the evil deity continues to manipulate events, finding a worthy successor to Garou in Empty Void. This character was the founder of the ninja village responsible for creating the anime favorite, Speed-o-Sound Sonic. It’s worth noting that Empty Void has already demonstrated capabilities surpassing many threats Saitama faced previously.

The Empty Void Vs God
In a fierce battle against one of the world’s most prominent heroes, Blast, it was unveiled that Void’s true loyalties were hidden. Equipped with extraordinary enhancements from absorbing an unknown evil god’s powers, the ninja had intentions to bring down the power for his personal goals. Here is how Blast explains the impending betrayal:
During that point in time, Void, having taken in the energy spilling from Garou, regained sentience and formed a plan. He would continue to appear subservient to God’s will, vanquish the heroes, and employ the cube to maximally augment the number of ‘Avatars’. In the finale, he would forfeit his life, dispersing his power among them – the force opposing God that he obtained from Garou. This distributed power would then be utilized by the Avatars to overthrow God.
So Why is Void a Villain?
Although desiring to destroy this wicked deity, Empty Void persists in battling the heroes nonetheless. This malevolent entity seeks retribution against Blast and the heroic team, convinced they are doing more harm than good in the world. While Garou was a formidable adversary for Saitama, Void seems poised to be an even greater menace, not only due to his immense power but also his sharp intelligence.
It seems like we’ll have to wait quite a while until Void and his battles appear on our TV screens, as it looks doubtful that season three will even wrap up the fight against the Monster Association. However, Garou remains the main focus in the anime, and the upcoming season promises to show him continuing his journey towards becoming a menacing adversary who could challenge the “hero for fun” in earnest.
