Onimusha Games Spike in Price Ahead of Way of the Sword

If you’re planning to experience Capcom’s Onimusha series before the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026, you should be prepared to pay a bit more for each game than before. Towards the end of 2024, Capcom announced Onimusha: Way of the Sword at The Game Awards, marking the first new installment in the series in two decades. This announcement has rekindled interest in the Onimusha franchise as a whole, causing resale prices for previous Onimusha games to skyrocket as people rush to get into (or revisit) the series.

According to PriceCharting’s data, some older Onimusha games, particularly those from the PS2 era, have experienced a rise in price over the last two months. It’s worth noting that the initial games in the series, such as Onimusha: Warlords and Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, have only seen a modest increase in value. Currently, Warlords is around $11, while Samurai’s Destiny is approximately $15.

For Onimusha 3: Demon Siege and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, a significant increase in resale prices isn’t typical compared to other entries in the series. Originally priced under $20, Onimusha 3 is now averaging at around $25. Interestingly, before the announcement of Way of the Sword, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams was going for approximately $40. However, its current average price has jumped significantly to around $60.

Interestingly, the version of the Onimusha game that has experienced the steepest increase in resale price is the PS4 remaster of Onimusha: Warlords, which was released in 2018. From its debut until the end of December 2024, physical copies of this game on PS4 were typically priced between $15 and $20. However, currently, these copies are consistently being resold for around $60, with some even fetching up to $80.

Great news! You can now digitally buy “Onimusha: Warlords” on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC at a more affordable price. Plus, Capcom is planning to remaster “Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny” for these same platforms, scheduled for release on May 23rd. If you’re keen on exploring the first two games in the renowned Capcom series, it won’t cost a fortune to do so.
