Following the triumph of the Thrifters, comprising Will Chadwick, Sam Haywood, and Jack Karimi, in the previous series of Only Connect, there’s official news regarding the date for the show’s historic 20th season comeback.
Veteran challenge quiz, presented by Victoria Coren Mitchell, makes its return to BBC Two and iPlayer beginning on Monday, August 12th at 8:00 PM.
As a devoted cinephile, I can’t wait for Coren Mitchell to return and grace our screens once more! A fresh set of quiz squads are gearing up to test their mettle in the intricate tournament where they strive to discern hidden links between enigmatic hints that at first glance appear unrelated.
Since September 2008, the series has continuously been broadcasted, with its initial debut on BBC Four. This past year, the show’s 19th season concluded on January 29th.
In the first month of this year, viewers noticed a mistake in one episode of Stranger Things: the last names of Sadie Sink, Cara Buono, Millie Bobby Brown, and Finn Wolfhard were incorrectly shown.
In a recent broadcast, Wolfhard’s name was written as Wolfhart, but fans quickly noticed this error. On the platform that used to be known as Twitter, Coren Mitchell acknowledged and addressed the issue. This platform has since undergone a rebranding.
In a recent post, she mentioned: “It appears there was a spelling discrepancy on our shared wall last night – Wolfhard was incorrectly written as Wolfhart. However, I refuse to apologize. I believe it’s significant that an error occurred in the Third Place Play-Off, much like the intentional flaw in a Persian carpet, so as not to offend the divine.”
In 2021, Coren Mitchell was questioned by The Guardian about the show’s success, to which she responded: “I believe its unexpected success holds a valuable lesson. After all, Only Connect doesn’t follow the obvious or mainstream path; instead, it embodies a unique, intelligent, and BBC Four spirit.”
“It has its unique charm and doesn’t strive for popularity intentionally. This authenticity resonates with viewers, as they can sense the lack of condescension. We value our audience and they appreciate our honesty.”
