OpenAI brings ChatGPT Deep Research to Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint, restricted by region and membership

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that OpenAI has unveiled a game-changing update! Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint users can now link their files directly to the Deep Research feature within ChatGPT for comprehensive analysis. This groundbreaking feature is currently in its beta phase, with access limited to those rocking an active ChatGPT Plus, Pro, or Team subscription.

As per OpenAI, by linking Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint to deep research, ChatGPT can instantly pull data from your live files for analysis. To use this feature, just connect your account, ask a question, and the system will search, interpret, and reference pertinent information from your documents in real time.

This year, OpenAI introduced an AI assistant specifically tailored to help users with intricate online research tasks across multiple steps. They referred to this tool as a revolutionary productivity aid, capable of accomplishing what could take humans hours to finish, all within just ten minutes.

Now, users can link this technology with Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint. To do so, choose Deep Research from the composer, then pick SharePoint from the drop-down menu.

After that, you will be asked to log into your account to give ChatGPT Connector permission. Lastly, you can choose the folders you wish for ChatGPT to access.

Another option is to establish a connection from ChatGPT’s settings. To do this, go to Connected Apps and pick Connectors. After that, simply click the “Connect” button next to Microsoft OneDrive (work or school) to finalize the procedure.

In simpler terms, ChatGPT uses your prompts to find suitable information stored in your linked Microsoft documents by creating specific search queries. After that, it dispatches these queries to Microsoft to fetch the desired data.

It’s anticipated that OpenAI will make an announcement about when this feature becomes usable for enterprise clients shortly.
