Oprah Winfrey, Simone Biles, Kermit the Frog & More Surprise Hoda Kotb

Hoda Kotb is saying goodbye to Today.

On the farewell day of the cherished anchor from the morning show, many people chose to bid her adieu, not just her coworkers like Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Jenna Bush Hager.

On a typical busy morning at the Rockefeller Center Plaza, there were crowds of people carrying signs expressing gratitude towards Hoda, like “thank you, Hoda,” and “we’ll miss you.” During this special broadcast, stars including Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristin Chenoweth, Dwyane Wade, and Oprah Winfrey expressed their appreciation for Hoda and offered well wishes through recorded messages.

Furthermore, Jamie Lee ensured Hoda took something special home, commissioning an exquisite orb inscribed with the message “Every day with you makes for a better day.” This gift was thoughtfully prepared for the co-host.

Among the real-life encounters, there was an unexpected visit from Olympian Simone Biles and Maria Shriver. Simone expressed gratitude to Hoda for being Team USA’s “Olympic Mom” over the years, while Maria commended Hoda on taking this bold step, venturing into a new phase, and embracing her upcoming chapter.

Additionally, Kermit the Frog put on a special rendition of “The Rainbow Connection” for Hoda and her girls, Haley aged 7, and Hope who is 5.

On Today, it’s nearly been four months since Hoda marked her final day on air, following her announcement of departing the morning show back then. Notably, she made this decision soon after celebrating a significant birthday in August.

She expressed during the September 26th broadcast on Today, “I understood that at 60, it was the perfect moment for me to embark on a new adventure.” Reflecting back, she recalled standing outside among an amazing group of people holding lovely signs, and she mused, “This is what it feels like to be on the crest of a wave for me.” She thought that things couldn’t get any better, and then decided that this was the perfect juncture for her to transition to something new.

Hoda also noted how her family played a role in the decision.

She explained, “Given that I had my children later in life, I believe they should get a larger share of my time. It feels as though our time together is limited. In light of everything, I must say, making this decision is incredibly challenging.

Leaving the camera behind, she’s got exciting plans for what’s next – a wellness-focused app and company. She hinted at various elements, such as retreats, a podcast, and numerous activities that share her passions.

However, as Hoda looks forward eagerly, she’s mindful too of the ties she’s parting with – those professional bonds that feel more like kinship.

Reflecting on my time here, I can’t help but think of my colleagues and their families – the people who have supported me, uplifted me, and inspired me in countless ways. The bond we’ve formed transcends the professional realm; these relationships have become some of my most treasured friendships. As I prepare to move on, their faces are etched in my heart, and I can hear the melody of our connection playing like a beautiful song.
