Fans who were disheartened when hit comedy show The Office concluded in 2013 can now look forward to exciting news about a continuation of the cherished series, tentatively titled The Paper, airing on Peacock. They’ll be thrilled to discover that one actor from the original cast will reprise his role for this spinoff: Oscar Nuñez as Oscar Martinez. Known for his role as an accountant at the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, Oscar’s sensible and mature demeanor often contrasted with the office’s chaos. However, he occasionally joined Kevin Malone in pranks directed at their uptight colleague Angela Martin. By the series finale, Oscar was seen running for a state Senate position in Pennsylvania.
In the upcoming “Office” spinoff, a documentary crew follows the volunteer journalists at a struggling Midwest newspaper, much like they did with the office workers in the original series. However, specific details about the new show are sparse, and it remains to be seen how character Oscar will fit into this narrative.
The new series is being developed by the original creator of “The Office,” Greg Daniels, together with Michael Koman, a writer from “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and executive producer of “Nathan for You.” Additionally, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, creators of the British version of “The Office” that served as inspiration for the American series, will also act as producers on this upcoming project.
The main cast of the show includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. Additional roles will be performed by Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, and Tracy Letts. Moreover, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Rahill, and Mo Welch are not only acting in the series but also serving as its writers.
