Oshi no Ko Drops Heartfelt Valentine’s Promo Ahead of Highly Anticipated Season 3!

2025 Valentine’s Day arrives, and anime studios are in the spirit by releasing special promo pictures of beloved series. These images, fitting for the romantic holiday, showcase hearts and love, and Doga Kobo studio marks the occasion with a fresh image highlighting B-Komachi from Oshi no Ko. B-Komachi is an imaginary pop idol trio comprising Ruby Hoshino, Kana Arima, and Mem-Cho. Interestingly, the group in the main manga series is the successor of a previous B-Komachi that starred Ruby’s mother, Ai Hoshino. The new Valentine’s Day promo for Oshi no Ko depicts all three girls from the new B-Komachi sprawled on the ground with boxes of chocolates and a pink ribbon.

The young ladies are donning adorable maid costumes with pink checkered patterns that match the charming pop idol vibe of “Oshi no Ko”. This atmosphere fits perfectly for Valentine’s Day. Moreover, the advertisement serves as a great marketing tool, hinting at the upcoming third season of the anime adaptation by Doga Kobo studio. The manga wrapped up in late 2024, offering fans a bittersweet ending since not all characters had a fairytale conclusion. Regrettably, viewers must endure a prolonged wait for “Oshi no Ko Season 3”, as its next season is not set to debut until some time in 2026.

Is Oshi no Ko Romantic?

Although Oshi no Ko may initially appear to be a cheerful pop idol drama, it delves deeper into the industry’s grim realities than many anticipated. The narrative primarily explores themes such as fanaticism, pressure in the idol world, self-doubt, and retribution. Despite this, the series also incorporates romantic aspects, notably the love triangle involving Aqua (Ruby’s brother), Kana Arima, and Akane Kurokawa.

The main development of Aqua’s persona revolves around his relentless pursuit for revenge against the one who killed his mother. Yet, as he forms bonds with Kana and Akane, his drive for vengeance weakens. To start, Aqua begins dating Akane, intensifying the competition between her and Kana. However, their relationship doesn’t last, paving the way for Kana to ask Aqua out on a date. Despite harboring feelings for him, Kana had never expressed them before, resulting in a poignant scene towards the end of the story.

In addition, there were suggestions of incestuous overtones between Aqua and Ruby due to their past lives being connected. Specifically, Ruby was reborn from someone who had loved Aqua’s original body, which made their relationship complex. The tension reached a peak when they were cast as lovers in the movie “The 15 Year Lie” and decided to practice a kiss together. Thankfully, the storyline did not delve deeper into their romantic relationship, as Aqua ultimately rejected Ruby’s feelings.
