Oshi no Ko Season 2 Welcomes an Unexpected Voice Actor

As a long-time anime enthusiast and connoisseur of voice acting, I must say that the revelation of Aqua and Ruby’s father in Oshi no Ko Season 2 has been nothing short of electrifying! The suspense has been building up for quite some time, and the moment we heard that mysterious voice in Episode 11, my heart skipped a beat. And when I saw the name attached to it – Mamoru Miyano, I WON!

In the homestretch of Season 2, the captivating anime Oshi no Ko is nearing its end. Recently, Aqua and Ruby’s enigmatic dad has made an appearance in the series, just before the season-ending episode. Throughout the season, Aqua has been partaking in the Tokyo Blade stage production with the aim of collaborating with Lala Lai, a company his father was mysteriously connected to. Despite facing daunting challenges, Aqua has also been discreetly collecting DNA samples from individuals he’s encountered within the entertainment world, hoping to uncover his paternal identity.

After the conclusion of the Tokyo Blade stage play, Aqua uncovered that he had a half-brother named Taiki Himekawa, who was also a prominent figure. Through Taiki, Aqua learned about his potential father, which led him to reconsider his life filled with revenge upon learning the man’s fate. Sadly, it appears that Aqua and Ruby’s enigmatic father is still alive. He seems to be mocking them subtly by remaining hidden, as this character made a more cryptic appearance in Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 11, with an even more elusive voice actor lending their talents to the role.

What Happens in Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 11?

In Episode 11 of Season 2, we follow Aqua on his journey to find a new direction after being told that their shared father had died in a murder-suicide with Taiki’s mother. Previously, Aqua thought the purpose of his revenge was already fulfilled since his father was deceased. However, without the driving force behind his reincarnated life, Aqua shares with Akane Kurokawa that he no longer intends to kill his father. Yet, Akane seems to sense something Aqua is overlooking in his tale.

It appears that Akane has figured out a flaw in everything Aqua has told her, suggesting that his father might still be alive. This realization troubles Akane because revealing this truth would not only shatter their current happiness (which could also lead to their separation), but it would also cause more suffering later on. However, by the end of the episode, Akane’s suspicions are proven correct as it is confirmed that Aqua and Ruby’s father is indeed alive, and he bears little resemblance to the father Aqua had imagined.

Who Voices Aqua and Ruby’s Father?

When Ruby visits Ai Hoshino’s grave to announce B-Komachi’s upcoming performance (taking place in the town where Ai had perished in her past life), she encounters a mysterious blonde man. This stranger praises Ruby, saying she has matured beautifully, which is unsurprising given that she is their offspring. This is the most significant introduction in the anime so far, as it reveals the father of the secret child Ruby shares with Ai. With this mystery figure now revealed, Aqua seems to be inching closer to seeking revenge once more.

Bringing this mysterious stranger to life goes to the uncredited Mamoru Miyano. While it’s an uncredited performance, fans are able to recognize the voice star anywhere as he has previously brought famous characters to life with the likes of Light Yagami in Death Note, Rintaro Okabe in Steins;Gate, Riku in Kingdom Hearts and much more. This character will be playing a huge role in Oshi no Ko’s future, so let’s hope the anime will be continuing after the second season comes to an end with its next episode.
