You can now stream all six episodes of the recently released drama/thriller series Out There, featuring Martin Clunes, on ITVX. It’s safe to say that the storyline offers numerous surprises as it follows the adventure of characters Nathan and Johnny Williams.

The pairing of Clunes and Louis Ashbourne Serkis, portraying a father and son, become entangled within the grimy realm of county lines drug trafficking. The series provides a gritty insight into the dark reality of these operations and how organized crime groups function.

During a question-and-answer session, Clunes was inquired if himself and the creative team behind the show aimed for the drama to spark a response similar to that of Mr. Bates vs the Post Office, which ultimately revived public interest in the Post Office scandal and even brought about legislative reforms.

As a cinema enthusiast, I find myself in a bit of a pickle when it comes to making comparisons, given there’s no ongoing public inquiry with immediate results here. To be honest, I’m not sure if it’s even appropriate or within our remit. However, we’re focusing on what we believe is crucial and pertinent to our dramatic narrative.

However, with viewers consuming the entire six-episode series at once, they might find themselves requiring a summary of the finale’s events, particularly how things conclude for Nathan and Johnny.

Out There ending explained: What happens to Nathan and Johnny?

In the opening scene of the last episode of Out There, Nathan discovered that Caleb had traced the person who witnessed their act of destroying Kenny’s car and disposing of his body. Remarkably, this witness seemed to be on their side – he declared he wouldn’t provide any more details to the police, as the drug dealers were a blight on the community.

Simultaneously, Nathan was preparing both his old farm and his neighbor’s for Turuk’s impending arrival. He proposed to Turuk the idea of relocating from his previous operational base and sharing some supplies, aiming to create an illusion among the police that they had achieved a victory.

I received details about this spot from Crowther, intending her to overlook Johnny, Caleb, and my own role in the unfortunate incident involving Kenny.

Later on, it became clear that Caleb had been conversing with Scott all along, sharing insights about purchasing the property. However, after reconsidering and reconnecting with Nathan, he informed Scott that he was no longer interested in any further dealings with him.

As I uncovered the truth about Turuk’s role in the farm, my excitement bubbled over, spilling into a heated exchange with Caleb. However, when he suggested that my aloofness was the reason for our disagreement, I couldn’t help but retort. I explained every detail to him, even bringing him into the inner circle of our operation.

In this scenario, Turuk discovered something and decided to assess Nathan by asking him to pick up a shipment from the docks together with Eva. Simultaneously, Caleb was tasked with guiding Turuk’s men to the location where Kenny’s body had been hidden.

Back at my place, I managed to persuade Sadie to return and share life with me, for I was constantly getting hammered by the other local merchants where I lived.

Initially, Johnny wished to propose a permanent living arrangement to her; however, it turned out that Sadie had been the one who initially framed him – she had urged Rhys to hand over the package, knowing full well that he would comply for her sake.

Rhys expressed intense dislike towards Johnny, as it was surprising and unacceptable that he got involved in drug trafficking. This action made Johnny seem to be worth less than Rhys and Sadie in their eyes.

While the family was enjoying their dinner, it turned out that Eva’s sister Alice, who is also Nathan’s daughter, happened to return home unexpectedly, feeling anxious due to a sense that something might be amiss.

On the following workday, Johnny and Nathan engaged in a discussion. Johnny inquired about Nathan’s strategy for dealing with Turuk and the drug traffickers. Nathan replied that all they needed was patience, keeping vigilant until these individuals were distracted or made an error. At that point, they would take action.

It appeared that Johnny doubted whether this scenario would succeed or be possible at all, leaving us in suspense for a likely resolution in a hypothetical second season.

Eventually, it was determined that the neighborhood drug peddler, Bunny, had met his end – a worrying indication of potential consequences for Nathan and Johnny.
