Outlander season 7 part 2: Release date, trailer and latest news

As a longtime fan of Outlander, I must say that I’ve been thoroughly captivated by the journey of Jamie and Claire since the very beginning. Their love story has spanned across time and continents, and it’s been an emotional rollercoaster to witness their trials and triumphs. Now, with the second half of season 7 on the horizon, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and trepidation.

*Warning: This article contains spoilers for Outlander season 7 part 1.*

Ever since it was announced during World Outlander Day on June 1st that Outlander season 7 part 2 would be released, eager fans have been showing remarkable patience as they wait for the upcoming episodes.

In just a few days, on Saturday, 23rd November, the second part of season 7 will arrive on MGM+ in the United Kingdom, ending the wait!

In the newly unveiled sneak peek, we catch a glimpse of what’s ahead while also witnessing Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire (portrayed by Caitríona Balfe) engaging in their roles.

Previously, the duo were seen at the end of season 7’s first half, having recently returned to their cherished home: Scotland.

As a passionate movie reviewer, I’m here to share my insights about the upcoming season of our cherished series. Unlike before, our beloved cast won’t just grapple with one issue, oh no! Co-showrunner Matthew B. Roberts has hinted to TVLine that Arch Bug, portrayed by Hugh Ross, will pose a significant threat to the Frasers this season. Keep your eyes peeled for this intriguing development!

In episode 8, we spotted him interacting with Rachel (played by Izzy Meikle-Small), and it appeared as if he was subtly warning her about Ian (John Bell).

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I must share my heartfelt disappointment: Outlander is about to conclude its epic journey with an eighth and final season. The cameras have ceased rolling on this emotional ride. Sam Heughan, our beloved Jamie Fraser, expressed his feelings in a moving tribute, emphasizing that there are “even more exciting moments” ahead as we eagerly anticipate Season 7 Part 2.

Though there’s an upcoming Outlander prequel series to look forward to, let me fill you in on all the details for Outlander season 7 part 2 until then.

Who will star in Outlander season 7 part 2?

Outlander season 7 part 2: Release date, trailer and latest news

As a devoted Outlander fan, I can’t help but express my excitement as we delve into the first part of season 7, where an array of fresh characters and familiar faces graced our screens. It’s heartening to know that the majority of our beloved cast will continue their captivating performances in the second half of this extended season.

In the seventh season of Outlander, most of the principal characters made their comeback, yet there were unexpected fatalities throughout the storyline.

In Season 7, we were introduced to Charles Vandervaart playing the role of Jamie’s bastard son William Ransom, along with the Quaker siblings, Izzy Meikle-Small portraying Rachel Hunter and Joey Phillips as Denzell Hunter.

In part 2 of Season 7, we’ll have the pleasure of seeing some beloved characters again. As showrunner Matthew B Roberts shared with TVLine: “One delightful aspect of our grand tale is time travel, which gives us an opportunity to revisit favorite characters in various eras and locations, and we’re excited to welcome back many familiar faces for season seven.

Among the beloved characters coming back is Jenny Murray, Jamie’s sister, who was initially portrayed by Laura Donnelly. However, due to scheduling complications, Kristin Atherton will now step into the role instead. It promises to be quite a family gathering as Andrew Whipp will also reappear as Brian Fraser, Jamie’s father. Since his character met his end in season 1, it seems plausible that he might appear either through time travel or flashbacks.

The confirmed cast list for season 7 part 2 is as follows:

  • Caitríona Balfe as Claire Randall Fraser
  • Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser
  • Richard Rankin as Roger Wakefield MacKenzie
  • Sophie Skelton as Brianna Randall Fraser MacKenzie
  • John Bell as Young Ian Murray
  • David Berry as Lord John Grey
  • Chris Fulton as Rob Cameron
  • Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom
  • Diarmaid Murtagh as Buck MacKenzie
  • Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter
  • Joey Phillips as Dr Denzell Hunter
  • Kristin Atherton as Jenny Murray
  • Andrew Whipp as Brian Fraser
  • Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzie
  • Lotte Verbeek as Geillis Duncan
  • Andrew Whipp as Brian Fraser
  • Steven Cree as Ian Murray
  • Layla Burns as Joan MacKimmie
  • Nell Hudson as Laoghaire Fraser
  • Gloria Obianyo as Mercy Woodcock
  • Hugh Ross as Arch Bug

What will happen in Outlander season 7 part 2?

Outlander season 7 part 2: Release date, trailer and latest news

Without a doubt, season 7 part 1 concluded in an exhilarating manner, as Roger and Buck journeyed through the stones to search for Jemmy, while Claire and Jamie Fraser made their way back to Scotland.

In Season 7, the narrative delved into the gripping tale of Claire and Jamie’s daughter Brianna (played by Sophie Skelton). Alongside her husband Roger, they ventured to 1980s Scotland with their children in pursuit of a safer and improved life – or so it seemed. However, their son Jemmy was abducted by an alleged friend, Rob Cameron (portrayed by Chris Fulton). Consequently, the hunt for Jemmy will undeniably be a significant element in the second half of Season 7.

As a devoted cinephile, I found myself captivated by Roger and Bri’s narrative arc. It seems to weave intricately with other storylines, a connection that, in my opinion, is crucial for the evolving plot – it all revolves around Jamie and Claire, who I view as the central hub from which all other narratives radiate.

Balfe stated, “This season has been truly remarkable! A lot has taken place this year, and I’m hoping that the audience will find it satisfying.

This season is filled with numerous dangers and unexpected events. It’s a time of significant loss and instability. Truly, it’s an extraordinary period – quite epic in its scope.

In the synopsis for season 7 part 2, it’s stated that due to the dangers of the American Revolution, characters must decide whether to stay loyal to their loved ones or defend the place they now call home.

In the meantime, Roger and Brianna encounter fresh adversaries through time, needing to fight against the powers seeking to divide their family. Loyalty shifts and hidden truths surface, putting Jamie and Claire’s union under unprecedented strain.

Could the MacKenzies and Frasers, connected by a bond that spans oceans and time, manage to reconnect with one another?

Is Outlander ending with season 8?

Regrettably, it has been confirmed that Outlander will indeed proceed with its eighth and concluding season, consisting of ten episodes, as announced on Thursday, January 19th, 2023.

As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but share my excitement about this: For close to a decade now, the captivating tale of Outlander has been winning hearts across the globe, and as someone who appreciates great storytelling, I am thrilled that we are finally bringing Claire and Jamie’s epic love saga to its fitting end.

“But before we close this chapter there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore of this dynamic world and its origin story.”

Although it’s unfortunate, fans need not worry excessively because we won’t completely abandon the Outlander world. Simultaneously with the renewal announcement, it was officially disclosed that a 10-episode prequel series, titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood, has been commissioned.

In this upcoming prequel, the focus will shift to the lives and relationship of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie. Matthew B. Roberts, who oversees and produces both shows as showrunner and executive producer, shared that while Jamie and Claire’s TV story might conclude with season 8, Diana Gabaldon is carrying on their literary tale in her captivating book series, particularly working hard on the 10th installment.

Jamie, Claire, Brian, and Ellen have more tales to tell within the Outlander world, and we’re eagerly looking forward to further unveiling these narratives for our passionate audience.

Is there a trailer for Outlander season 7 part 2?

There is! There’s finally a sneak peek at the second half of Outlander season 7, and we hear Jamie aptly tie it together saying that “a storm is coming”.

momentarily, we catch brief scenes showing a tearful Bri, a worried Claire, and a frightened Roger, who stumbles upon Jemmy’s scarf in the forest.
