Outlander stars know what the future is for Bree and Roger

As a long-time fan of time-traveling sagas, I find myself deeply engrossed in the ongoing adventures of Roger and Brianna Mackenzie in Outlander. Their repeated journeys through the stones have become as common as a morning coffee for these intrepid time travelers.

In the course of Outlander’s storyline, it’s nearly as if Roger and Brianna have made multiple trips through time just slightly more frequently than Claire Fraser.

At the start of Season 7, broadcasted the previous year, the Mackenzie family went back to their initial timeframe with the intention of rescuing their daughter Mandy. She had fallen ill with a health issue that could only be treated in the 20th century.

They opted to remain in the era they found themselves in, which was the future as far as their family back home during the American Revolution was concerned.

In Scotland, 1980, Roger and Brianna were renovating their inherited Lallybroch estate when they found themselves thrust back into time travel. This was evident in the mid-season finale of season 7, where both Roger and his ancestor Buck urgently crossed through the stones at Craigh Na Dun, pursuing the abductor of young Jemmy.

It’s yet unclear if Roger will locate his son, or what Brianna will do on her own in the ’80s, as Outlander comes back to our TVs this week. The future is uncertain for both characters.

Meanwhile, a thought might arise: Given that Brianna and Roger’s family are scattered throughout different eras and locations, what does the year 1980 signify to them? Is it truly their homeland, or is their place in the past more significant?

Rankin stated, ‘A home is a place where love resides.’ For them, I believe this sentiment remains consistent – it’s wherever their loved ones are.

Skelton went on to say: “Home isn’t defined by a specific location or building, but rather by the people and family within it. Regardless of where you establish your piece of land or house, it’s the loved ones who make it a home. This concept has been consistently emphasized in Brianna and Roger’s storylines as the series progresses, becoming even more pronounced over time.

Regardless of where they currently are, if they’re united and surrounded by their loved ones, they can transform any place into a comfortable, homely environment.

Skelton playfully suggested, “Perhaps it’s so! They might just be living there permanently.” Implying that maybe, Jemmy and Mandy could someday enjoy a comfortable inheritance.
