As a devoted Outlander fan since its inception, I must say that it feels like saying goodbye to a dear friend as the series comes to an end after eight seasons and 101 unforgettable episodes. The journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, filled with heart-wrenching moments, laughter, tears, and countless memories. Sam Heughan‘s emotional tribute on Instagram was a poignant reminder of the incredible people I have come to know through this series, both on-screen and off.
Actor Sam Heughan, known for his role in Outlander, made a heartfelt farewell to the cherished fantasy series as production on the show officially concluded following eight seasons, 11 years, and 101 episodes.
As a dedicated film critic, I recently had the privilege of wrapping up my review for the eighth and concluding season of the captivating series, Outlander, airing on Starz. Based on Diana Gabaldon’s enchanting book collection, this emotional journey came to an end last Friday (27th September).
Sam Heughan posted on Instagram to celebrate the event, showcasing a series of backstage images from the last eight seasons. Among them were a picture of him wearing stage makeup and looking like he’d been drenched in fake blood, and another where he was casually eating an ice pop while in character as Jamie Fraser.
For 11 years, 8 seasons, and 101 episodes on Outlander_STARZ, it’s been an extraordinary voyage. So many cherished moments, remarkable individuals I’ve had the privilege of working alongside and now consider dear friends.
He continued: “So many people to thank. Especially JAMMF himself, herself @diana_gabaldon , @starz @sptv , my brilliant partner in crime @caitrionabalfe , cast, crew, the fans and to Scotland!! Dinnae fash Sassenachs, plenty more to look forward to….????????????????????????????.”[sic]

Two months before the television premiere of Outlander Season 7 Part 2 on November 22, 2024, filming will conclude on its final day.
The story resumes with Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe), who depart from the colonies, setting foot back on their cherished land: Scotland.
However, contrary to expectations raised by the recent preview, it appears that their anticipated homecoming is not straightforward, as the Revolutionary War compels them to prioritize between their cherished relationships and their newly found abode.
It appears that the Outlander saga may draw to a close after season 8, but fret not! The Fraser family legacy continues with a forthcoming prequel series titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood. This spin-off will delve into the romantic tales surrounding Jamie and Claire’s parents, making for an intriguing continuation of their family history.
In the upcoming series, Harriet Slater, known for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Jamie Roy from Condor’s Nest, will play Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, respectively – roles that are depicted as Jamie’s parents. Additionally, Hermione Corfield, star of We Hunt Together, and Jeremy Irvine from Benediction, will be portraying Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, the on-screen parents of Claire.
In the United States, you’ll be able to stream Outlander season 7 part 2 on Starz, while viewers in the UK can find it on MGM. If you’re interested in reading the books that inspired this series, they are available for purchase on Amazon.
