Benito Skinner has stacks on deck like he’s saving up for another season of Overcompensating.  

Following the success of the comedy on Prime Video since its premiere on May 15, the show’s creator, better known as Benny Drama, shared some details about a potential sequel.

In an exclusive chat with TopMob News during the Gotham Awards on June 2, Benito shared that there’s been no update so far. However, he expressed a sense of optimism and readiness to move forward.

With confidence, you’ll find the 31-year-old is actively brainstorming concepts for his team of actors, which includes Wally Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, and Rish Shah, among others.

He clarified that he was fortunate they had the luxury to explore the subject thoroughly since it was a television production. With TV, there’s ample opportunity for depth in experiences such as coming-out moments and other related aspects.

And yes, Holmes’ Hailee will still be going f–king apes–t.

As he teased, “I need Spring Break with Hailee, like that’s heaven.”

He mentioned that the emotional scenes in the show’s initial season were reminiscent of his college experience. In other words, just as college life can move swiftly from wild nights to intimate moments of truth-telling, so too did these heartfelt moments capture that same essence.

For now, he’s just happy fans are riding for the show, which is heavily based on his own life.

He expressed that viewers’ responses were quite different than what he had anticipated, leaving him astonished. Within the initial week of its release, he received several messages from individuals – some openly gay, others not – who found a reflection of themselves in the series, feeling less isolated as a result.

Yearning for companionship and anticipating further developments. At airports, he humorously quipped, “They seem to wonder, ‘What brings you here? I can think of something productive you could be doing on that flight – write the script.’
