As a die-hard fan of both Overwatch 2 and Avatar: The Last Airbender, I can hardly contain my excitement! The upcoming collaboration between these two beloved franchises is like a dream come true for me. I’ve been eagerly awaiting Aang’s arrival in the world of Overwatch since the day I first saw him soar through the skies on my TV screen.
Players of Overwatch 2 were given a sneak peek at Season 14 before its release on December 10th. This season will bring a fresh hero into the game and the much-anticipated comeback of the 6v6 mode, which was instrumental in making the original Overwatch popular. However, Blizzard also had something extra for Overwatch 2 players this week: a teaser about the upcoming cosmetic partnership with Avatar: The Last Airbender. A glimpse of the collaboration was displayed in the new Season 14 trailer, with Aang appearing in the backdrop. Yet, as always, Blizzard hasn’t disclosed any details on the specific skins that will be part of this collaboration.
In the final moments of the Overwatch 2 trailer, Aang made a fleeting appearance, but it was unmistakable. Blizzard has been actively collaborating with various brands for Overwatch 2, some catering to niche audiences, yet the collaboration with Avatar: The Last Airbender seems poised to be the most impactful if we consider solely the size of its fanbase and interest in the series.
Regarding the characters and their potential skins, Blizzard hasn’t given any details yet. However, based on appearances alone, it seems plausible that Zenyatta could receive the Aang skin. Since there’s no strictly fire-based hero in Overwatch 2, Blizzard might need to be creative with Fire Nation skins. It’s also possible we could see Toph added to the game as a Venture skin. Fans of Venture have been eagerly waiting for a new skin since it was hinted that the hero would get one during Season 14, and the collaboration hints align nicely with this tease.
On Twitter/X, the authentic Overwatch 2 account announced that Avatar: The Last Airbender will be added to the game on December 17th. Coincidentally, this is also the day of the initial playtest for the classic 6v6 mode, so Overwatch 2 players are gearing up for a busy schedule in less than two weeks.
Get ready to dive into the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender as it merges with Overwatch 2! Starting December 17, you’re invited to take part in the excitement!

Understandably, if players of Overwatch 2 aren’t engrossed in the game right now, they might be checking out Marvel Rivals instead. This new hero shooter, similar to Overwatch 2, launches this week and is making a compelling case for gamers to try it out. One of its attractive features is that it debuts with 33 heroes, all of whom are available for immediate play. Additionally, the battle passes in Marvel Rivals do not expire, allowing players to complete them at their convenience. This combination sets a solid base for the game to build upon and potentially win over fans.
In the past, Overwatch 2 has teamed up with various popular franchises such as One-Punch Man and Cowboy Bebop for character skins. However, these collaborations have garnered differing responses based on how well the skins fit the characters in Overwatch 2. So, it will be interesting to see how the Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration is received as we approach its release date.
