There’s no denying that Marvel Rivals, the team-based hero shooter by NetEase, has become incredibly popular, amassing over 20 million players just one month after its release. What makes this achievement even more noteworthy is that Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch 2 remains successful. However, the intriguing point lies in how significantly Marvel Rivals might have impacted Overwatch 2’s success.
Notably, on Twitch, the game Overwatch 2 had a maximum viewership of 64,970 within the past month – a noticeable decrease from its peak of 125,279 viewers in November. It’s important to mention that the 24th of November coincided with the finals of the Overwatch Championship Series 2024.
In the last month, Marvel Rivals reached a maximum viewership of 275,521. Over the past week, this number for Rivals was 140,039 compared to just 23,260 viewers for Overwatch 2. Given these numbers, it’s no wonder that content creators and streamers are flocking towards Marvel Rivals due to its large player base.
The difference in audience numbers might persist as Marvel Rivals’ Season 1 premieres this month, introducing the Fantastic Four as fresh characters. Their first official trailer is set to be released on January 6th.
