Pacific Drive Update Brings Permadeath, Easy Difficulty, New Gameplay Settings, and More

As a seasoned survivalist and racing enthusiast who’s spent countless hours navigating treacherous terrains and battling against the odds, I can’t help but feel my heart race with excitement at the latest update for Pacific Drive! The “Drive Your Way” update brings a fresh wave of challenges, customization options, and an Anomalous Customization Pack that’s got me itching to hit the road once more.

Earlier this year, Pacific Drive got its first free content upgrade, with the developers, Ironwood Studios, hinting at further updates in fall and winter. As promised, the autumn update has arrived, which they’ve named “Drive Your Way”. This update introduces several new gameplay options, customization features, and enhancements to the game.

Among the latest features, the six new gameplay settings stand out as a notable enhancement. The Iron Wagon option offers a challenging experience with permanent death and heightened difficulty, while Scenic Tour is designed for easier play, eliminating death, reducing driving hazards, damage, and crafting demands. Similarly, Joyride provides an easier mode by lessening penalties and requirements, while maintaining the core gameplay feel.

Nuclear Voyage increases radiation levels on all maps and intensifies storms; Mechanic’s Car Adventure takes driving into account based on terrain and vehicle condition, with repairs becoming costlier and crafting options limited during gameplay; lastly, Olympic Challenge is a challenging mode with settings set to maximum difficulty.

Furthermore, the Drive Your Way update introduces numerous gameplay customization options as well as some free visual enhancements. Simultaneously, Ironwood Studios has launched a premium cosmetics bundle called Anomalous Customization Pack. Priced at $4.99, this pack comes with six new cosmetic items for players to enjoy.

Pacific Drive is available on PS5 and PC.
