Los Angeles firefighters are trying their best to bring comfort in the chaos.
Amidst the fiery blazes that swept through Pacific Palisades, Topanga, and Malibu in L.A., brave firefighters sprang into motion, striving to safeguard precious possessions from houses engulfed in flames.
On January 7th, as reported by NBC LA via Instagram, firefighters combating the PalisadesFire successfully rescued numerous cherished possessions from a house ablaze. A video posted alongside the report depicted firefighters in uniform carefully removing items like photo albums, a grandfather clock, and other belongings from the burning home and placing them safely on the sidewalk for protection. The LAFD’s No. 37 station located on Lachman Lane was actively engaged in fighting the flames when certain firefighters took it upon themselves to save these sentimental items.
In my line of work, I’ve always admired those unsung heroes who step up in times of crisis. Today, these local champions went beyond the call of duty, bringing a glimmer of solace amidst the hardship. Their kindness didn’t go unnoticed, and when someone acknowledged their good deeds, one firefighter humbly replied, “Just doing my part to save some cherished memories.
Among those impacted by the fierce wildfire, driven by winds reaching 80 mph, were reality TV stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, former residents of The Hills. Though the pair successfully evacuated their Pacific Palisades community with their sons Gunner, aged 7, and Ryker, 2, sadly, the house they had to abandon could not withstand the fire’s fury.
Spencer posted a Snapchat video on January 7th, showing their house burning down as captured by the security cameras, with the deck and kids’ room ablaze in the footage.
After learning about the loss of their house, Stephanie Pratt expressed her support online later on.
Stephanie expressed deep sorrow for her brother and sister-in-law, Heidi, as well as their children, in a post on her Instagram Story on January 7th. Additionally, she sympathized with all friends and neighbors who have lost their homes today.
I just had a heart-stopping conversation with my old man – he valiantly attempted to shield my brother’s abode from the ferocious winds, but alas, it was a losing battle. The wind’s relentless fury left him powerless. My folks managed to evacuate securely and now they’re anxiously monitoring the destructive inferno that’s inching ever closer to their home via security cameras.
With more than 30,000 southern California residents compelled to find shelter elsewhere, some encountered challenges navigating through heavy traffic—even renowned actor Eugene Levy from “Schitt’s Creek” faced the same issue.
In an interview with The Los Angeles Times on January 7, the 78-year-old described the smoke over Temescal Canyon as extremely dark and thick. He mentioned that he didn’t notice any flames, but the smoke was very dense.
This year, the anticipated announcement of the Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, originally scheduled for the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, was unfortunately scrapped amidst the looming threat of wildfires. As a dedicated follower, it’s disheartening to witness such events that disrupt our cherished traditions.
To ensure the well-being of our presenters, invitees, and team members, the live, in-person announcement for the 31st SAG Awards nominations has been called off due to the wildfires and harsh wind conditions in Los Angeles. Instead, we will be releasing the names of the nominees through a press statement. In the interim, we kindly ask everyone to prioritize their safety during these challenging times.
