Even though the X-Men are well-known, the idea of mutants hasn’t been a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since it began. To successfully introduce mutants, Marvel Studios will likely start with a team of established characters. This approach will help connect different storylines and give the new team more impact, as it builds on what viewers already know and care about. It also avoids making the universe feel too fragmented, a criticism sometimes leveled at the recent Multiversal Saga. Currently, Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) are the most likely candidates to become the first official members of the X-Men in the MCU.

Over the past 25 years, some Star Wars projects have really expanded the universe in creative ways. Titmouse and Critical Role recently announced a new project called Draw Your Weapons. The two companies have collaborated before on animated series like The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein. This time, they’re trying something different by bringing the world of live-play tabletop gaming to life with live illustration. The Court of Owls first appeared in the 2011 Batman storyline, but it was revealed they’d secretly controlled Gotham City since its very beginning. This group of powerful and corrupt citizens used undead assassins called Talons to manipulate events from the shadows, remaining hidden even from Batman. Now, DC Comics has completely reinvented the Court for a darker universe. In Absolute Batman #17, readers meet the Absolute Court of Owls, which is significantly different from the original. Shockingly, Bruce Wayne’s own mother, Martha Wayne, is revealed to be one of its members.
