This figure surpasses all previous Assassin’s Creed games on this platform. Given that it’s Ubisoft’s first simultaneous launch on Steam since 2019, it’s off to a strong start, attracting substantial player numbers from the get-go.

According to VGC and Insider Gaming, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is ranked as the second largest launch of all Assassin’s Creed games, with Ubisoft reporting similar figures in a separate report. Both reports, based on internal sales data from unnamed sources, place the game behind 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Notably, unlike previous Assassin’s Creed games that were released during busier end-of-year periods, Shadows has experienced its high sales in the less bustling month of March.

According to Insider Gaming’s findings, the critically acclaimed 2018 open-world action RPG, “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey,” has amassed more individual players than any other game in the Assassin’s Creed series, with over 40 million unique gamers to date. Although 2020’s “Valhalla” holds the record for the biggest launch for both the series and Ubisoft, it is reported that “Odyssey” boasts a larger player base throughout its lifetime compared to any other Assassin’s Creed game.
