On the online forum ResetEra, video content creator Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly shared that an upcoming game from Retro Studios would have been a unique role-playing game (RPG) centered around music, where the main feature was singing. Simultaneously, Bandai Namco was taking charge of Metroid Prime 4. Unfortunately, the music RPG turned out to be a catastrophic failure, leading Nintendo to cancel the project and task Retro with remastering the original Metroid Prime games instead. Following some resolution of tensions with Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe, Nintendo terminated Bandai Namco’s work on Metroid Prime 4, and the project was then revived under the care of Retro Studios.

In a recent interview on X by user zuorinandang, Megumi Ishitani (from One Piece Fan Letter’s storyboard artist Keisuke Mori and scriptwriter Momoka Toyoda) discussed their future aspirations. During the conversation, Ishitani expressed a keen interest in directing a full-length project, such as a film, if presented with the opportunity. Ishitani stated to Newtype: “I don’t dwell on the future, but I approach every piece of work I’m currently doing as my last. Yet, if there’s still an opening, I am intrigued by the idea of creating a theatrical adaptation.” Ishitani further explained, “Though I have always considered participating in the production process for a theatrical version, I haven’t had the chance. I look forward to trying my hand at making a full-length project.
