Growing up, I didn’t watch much Star Trek, but I’ve picked up bits and pieces over the years. I’ve seen the J.J. Abrams movies, including Star Trek Beyond, and a few episodes of The Next Generation. Plus, Star Trek has become so ingrained in popular culture through memes and cast members appearing in other shows, that I had a general idea of what it was about. With the anniversary approaching, I decided it was time to actually start watching from the beginning. While Star Trek fans know the first episode isn’t truly the first episode, I decided to start with “The Man Trap” anyway, and here are my initial thoughts on what makes Star Trek special.

Despite being a strong adaptation with a standout performance by future Oscar winner Christian Bale (who landed the role after Leonardo DiCaprio turned it down), a new remake of American Psycho faces an uphill battle to justify its existence. Director Luca Guadagnino and star Austin Butler, though inspired choices, need to convince audiences that a fresh take is necessary. Justin Theroux, who played Timothy Bryce in the original film, has now voiced his concerns, questioning the need for a remake.

Beyond Team Ninja’s own titles, Lies of P was a significant influence, particularly in how its bosses effectively used precise timing for blocking and dodging. The boss designs and animations—often incorporating unique elements—were a major source of inspiration, according to the developer.

According to The Verge, the new Gears of War: E-Day game is currently scheduled to release sometime in the latter half of 2026. While Xbox has an internal target date, they haven’t announced it publicly yet. They’re also considering the November release of Grand Theft Auto VI and want to avoid launching Gears of War: E-Day too close to it. This suggests that early November is likely the latest the game will come out.

While promoting her new movie, Crime 101, Halle Berry spoke with Screen Rant about her feelings for the character Storm and whether she’d play her again. She shared that Storm is a particularly meaningful role for her, and she’s grateful for the opportunity to have played her. Berry also expressed her pride in the X-Men films, noting their important messages and how happy she was to share them with her children as they grew up. Although she won’t be in the next X-Men film, Doomsday, she’s open to returning to the role in the future if the opportunity arises.
