For a while, Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe faced some difficulties. Initially planned to kick off with Fantastic Four on November 8, 2024, this phase was supposed to continue with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2025. However, a writers’ strike in 2023 disrupted the early stages of production for numerous Marvel projects, and Jonathan Majors, who portrayed Kang, faced allegations leading to his conviction for harassment and reckless assault. Consequently, Phase Six underwent significant adjustments, and its release dates were postponed. The Fantastic Four’s launch date was swapped with that of Thunderbolts* (which was also delayed), while the fifth Avengers film, now called Doomsday, was rescheduled for December 18, 2026.
*Note: In this context, “Thunderbolts” refers to a team of supervillains and antiheroes in the Marvel universe who were reimagined as a team of heroes in the MCU movies.
