Paris Jackson Defends Concert on Michael Jackson’s Death Anniversary

Paris Jackson is not going to apologize for how she’s spending a difficult day.

Following criticism for her planned performance on the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s passing (June 25) during her tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra, the 27-year-old has explained her actions regarding this occasion.

Paris expressed her frustration in an Instagram Story that has since expired, as reported by the Independent. She mentioned that one of her scheduled tour dates, specifically June 25, holds a painful significance for both her and her family, as it coincides with a difficult anniversary in their lives.

On the other hand, Paris – a child Prince shared with his former wife Debbie Rowe, as well as Prince Jackson who is currently 28 years old – revealed her reasons for taking on the performance.

What I’d like to clarify is that when you’re not the main act for these shows, you don’t get to choose the performance date. So, it’s not as if I can just say, ‘Oh, we can’t perform on this specific day?’

The “Hit Your Knees” singer ended her message with a simple note to her haters, adding, “F–k you.”

On multiple occasions, Paris (currently engaged to songwriter Justin Long) has had to clarify her methods of honoring her late father, following his passing in 2009. In August 2023, she shared reasons for not celebrating what would have been his 65th birthday on Instagram.

On her recent video, she shared that today is her father’s birthday, and during his lifetime, he disliked anyone making a fuss about it. In fact, he preferred not to reveal his birthday so we wouldn’t organize a celebration or any festivities.

Meanwhile, Paris defended herself against critics who disapproved of her not wishing her father, who is also the dad to 22-year-old Bigi Jackson, a happy birthday on social media. However, she did acknowledge him during her performance alongside Incubus on that very same day.

For fifty years, he poured in his heart’s blood, sweat, tears, love, and passion into his work, enabling me to perform before you all tonight with my voice. Thus, I am deeply indebted to him.”

Or even more informally:
“He dedicated half a century of his life, with all the emotion and energy that entails, so I could be here singing for you. That’s why I owe it all to him.

In March 2024, Prince, Paris, and Bigi make an appearance on the red carpet for the premiere of MJ: The Musical.

As a lifestyle expert, I found myself gracing the red carpet at the Santa Monica Film Festival in February 2024, accompanied by my brother Prince and our circle of friends. You see, it was a momentous occasion for our family as my youngest son, Michael, had won the prestigious award for Best Drama. This recognition was not just for his exceptional acting skills, but also for his remarkable directorial and screenwriting debut in a short film titled Rochelles. The pride I felt that day was indescribable.
