Path of Exile 2 Crosses 1 Million Early Access Redemptions, Director Warns of Launch Queues

As a seasoned Path of Exile veteran with countless hours spent in the dark and gritty world of Wraeclast, I must say, Grinding Gear Games has truly outdone themselves this time! The anticipation for Path of Exile 2 has been palpable, and the one million key redemptions are a testament to its popularity. However, it seems the team might have bitten off more than they can chew with such overwhelming demand.

Today at 11 AM PST, Grinding Gear Games will kick off early access for “Path of Exile 2”, and so far it’s exceeded expectations. Game director Jonathan Rogers shared that the action RPG has already surpassed one million key redemptions, with sales continuing to climb. Despite this success, Rogers admitted that the team didn’t anticipate such high demand.

During the initial launch weekend, there’s a good chance that players will encounter queues due to the original server capacity being designed for up to one million users. Although additional cloud capacity has been ordered, Rogers cautions, “We’re unsure of how our backend services will perform as we surpass a million users.

We’ve increased the number of database segments, pushing our resources to their maximum capacity. However, we’re uncertain about potential limitations we might encounter.” Nevertheless, he appreciates your feedback and assures that his team will diligently tackle any server problems that arise in the future.

In simple terms, the early access for Path of Exile 2 is opening up for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 platforms. The cost for supporter packs starts at $29.99. Key features include playing through three Acts, choosing from six Classes (with two Ascendancies each), encountering approximately 400 monster types, and battling about 50 bosses. Additionally, players can look forward to experimenting with a variety of Skills and customizing them using Support Gems. The end-game will involve the Atlas of Worlds.
