Path of Exile 2 Gameplay Showcases Various Classes, Skills, Bosses, Couch Co-op, and More

As a seasoned Path of Exile player with countless hours spent in Wraeclast, I am beyond excited about the upcoming release of Path of Exile 2! The gameplay revealed at this year’s Tokyo Game Show has left me in awe, especially the new mechanics like dodge canceling and the intriguing Warrior class that allows for mixing different Slam skills.

Starting next month, Grinding Gear Games’ “Path of Exile 2” begins its early access phase, slightly delayed by three weeks. As we draw closer to the launch, further information about the end-game aspects will be disclosed. However, this year’s Tokyo Game Show offered an extensive look at the gameplay, which you can check out.

In a conversation with Shuhei Yoshida from Sony, game director Jonathan Rogers discusses the essential features of their action RPG. He begins by explaining the Mercenary’s ability to use automatic firearms and explosives for damage. The Warrior, however, captures more interest, as players can combine diverse Slam abilities to create unique effects, including multiple attack sequences.

In contrast to Path of Exile 1, arranging and embedding Support Gems for skills has been streamlined, however, combat mechanics have advanced with features such as dodge canceling. Demonstrations of Monk gameplay are presented along with a fresh boss battle in an area that gradually shrinks. A different arena challenges players to engage enemies while staying out of the light to dodge direct damage from an energy source.

Additionally, let me clarify that the cooperative mode (couch co-op) is included and it’s designed so that the class selection screen displays two survivors rather than one. With various methods for skills to interplay, envision a chaotic scenario where six players are simultaneously engaging in this cooperative play, stirring up trouble together.

Starting December 6th, Path of Exile 2 will begin its early access phase on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. As of now, we’re not sure about the full extent of the content, so keep an eye out for updates in the coming weeks to learn more!
