In Path of Exile 2, there’s a collection of abilities referred to as Auras or Heralds. You can activate these at your discretion; however, the method might seem somewhat complex when using a controller.
Engaging any of these Auras or Heralds will grant you an ongoing advantage, but it will consume some of your Spirit. Unlike in Path of Exile 1, there’s no need to set aside Mana for this purpose. Instead, you expend your Spirit, a resource that you primarily accumulate by advancing through the game’s narrative!

How to Activate Your Aura & Heralds on Controller | Path of Exile 2
In Path of Exile 2, before you can use your Aura or Herald with a controller, make sure to initiate the process by pressing a button similar to the Select key. For Xbox and PlayStation users, this would be the View Button on Xbox or the Touchpad on PlayStation DualSense.
Next, navigate to the Skills section and find the Aura or Herald you’d like to activate. Simply press ‘X’ on Xbox or ‘Square’ on PlayStation when your cursor is over it.
Finally, use the Up and Down buttons on your D-Pad to turn the effect on or off. This will also display the Spirit amount needed by the Aura or Herald. Furthermore, press L1/R1 (for PlayStation) or LB/RB (for Xbox) to switch between the Weapon Sets for the Aura or Herald.
To ensure you’re able to activate your Aura or Herald, verify that you fulfill all necessary conditions. You should have sufficient Spirit, Stats, and compatible weapons. For instance, the Thunder Herald displayed earlier requires 30 Spirit, Level 10, 25 DEX, and can be wielded with any Martial Weapon.
