Patrick Gibson Confirms Work on Video Game Following James Bond Rumors

Actor from Dexter: Original Sin confirms he’s developing a video game, fueling ongoing conjecture about his potential role as James Bond in 007 First Light. The part of James Bond is not one that’s taken lightly; it’s an esteemed position held by a select few iconic actors, some of whom have even been knighted. It’s a character that can make or break a career, leading to much anticipation about who will inherit the role of 007 for over a decade, even before Daniel Craig officially stepped down from the position. Though the next Bond film is still in the distant future, it doesn’t mean another actor can’t portray the character elsewhere.

For approximately five years now, under nearly complete secrecy, the developers at IO Interactive have been diligently working on the game titled “007 First Light”. Lately, they unveiled the first official trailer for this project, providing us our initial glimpse of Bond himself. Traditionally, 007 games utilize actors from the films, either through likeness or performance, but in this instance, IO Interactive is crafting their own Bond persona and that encompasses a fresh actor. It wasn’t long before spectators speculated they recognized the new James Bond actor as Patrick Gibson, star of “Dexter: Original Sin”.

Patrick Gibson Confirms He’s in a Video Game Following James Bond Rumors

IO Interactive isn’t revealing who’s taking on the character roles yet, although it’s pretty clear to others. They’ve hinted they’ll share more about the game cast when they unveil a fresh look at their action/adventure game this summer. For now, nothing is officially confirmed. However, in an interview with Austin Stowell from NCIS: Origins for emmy Magazine’s print edition, Patrick Gibson did confirm he’s involved in a video game project.

Gibson mentioned, “I’m currently in London.” He was working on a video game, capturing motion-capture data, which left dots all over his head. After removing his suit… he’s still in the recording studio.

Based in Denmark, IO Interactive additionally has an office in Brighton, England, with London only about an hour and a half away. It’s plausible they rent motion capture facilities there for their games, as many game developers opt not to own their own stage. This setup further stirs up speculation that Gibson is indeed the young James Bond, although it’s possible he might be working on another project, which seems rather unlikely.
