On February 24th, during a romantic evening with his wife Brittany Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes stepped off the field to catch some college basketball action at the Houston vs. Texas Tech game. Amidst the excitement, fans couldn’t help but notice that Patrick sported a brand-new haircut, significantly shorter than what we’ve been accustomed to seeing him with on the football field.
At a recent hair appointment, Patrick expressed his desire for a much shorter hairstyle, asking his barber, DeJuan Bonds, to give him a buzzcut. However, DeJuan was cautious and didn’t want Patrick to regret his choice.
During the entire time I’ve been trimming his hair, he simply allows me to work my magic, DeJuan shared with Us Weekly. However, when he requested a change, he essentially said, “Go ahead and shave it all off.
DeJuan explained, “I said no to just chopping it all off. Instead, we’ll work together and make gradual changes. We agreed to take it down bit by bit, finding our common ground on the cuts and the desired length. In essence, this last one was a collaborative effort.
29-year-old Patrick first unveiled his new hairstyle a week earlier at his grandfather’s funeral service. But it was during the NCAA game where he cheered for his Alma Mater, Texas Tech, that marked his first public outing showing off his recent haircut.
For DeJuan, who works with Patrick’s teammates like George Karlaftis, Trent McDuffie, and Skyy Moore, he admires Patrick not just for his fashion flair but also for his unwavering humility, despite the numerous Super Bowl rings he has earned.
DeJuan remarked, ‘Patrick is undeniably one of the most humble athletes I’ve encountered. Over the past two decades, I’ve interacted with numerous athletes. I can’t explain why he’s so humble, but there’s something unique about him. Among the entitled and arrogant ones, Patrick stands out. That’s just his nature.’
