Paul Mescal is starring in Sam Mendes’s Beatles movies, Ridley Scott lets slip

As a movie enthusiast with over three decades of film-watching under my belt, I must say that the upcoming quadrilogy of Beatles films has me more than a little intrigued. The casting announcements have been dropping like a Beatles song on the UK charts, and the latest one about Paul Mescal playing Paul McCartney is music to my ears.

A few weeks back, it seemed like Ringo Starr hinted that Barry Keoghan might take on the role of him in Sam Mendes’ forthcoming tetralogy of Beatles movies.

It appears that Ridley Scott has hinted at an informal confirmation regarding cast members, as he mentioned Paul Mescal, who has been strongly associated with the part of Paul McCartney, will indeed feature in the upcoming films.

During a chat with Christopher Nolan, the seasoned director expressed his thoughts on potentially working again with Gladiator 2’s actor, Mescal, for his upcoming movie, The Dog Stars.

Initially, Scott mentioned that he might be available, but later explained: “Perhaps. Paul is currently occupied with the Beatles project, so I might need to release him.

It looks increasingly likely that Mescal will actually perform as McCartney, based on the strongest hints we’ve seen so far, following weeks of widespread speculation.

Previously, Entertainment Tonight posed a question about the possibility to the actor of “Normal People” and “Aftersun”, who responded that it would be an extraordinary tale to be connected with.

He added: “The fact that Sam Mendes is attached to direct, like, truly, it would be a dream come true.”

By late November, Starr mentioned that Keoghan had been learning drums somewhere. So, with a fair degree of confidence, I’d say we can identify at least two members of the Fab Four in the upcoming film series – me included!

Currently, Harris Dickinson stands out as a strong contender for playing John Lennon. During a recent conversation with Dazed, he was questioned about this opportunity.

According to recent reports, it’s suggested that actor Joseph Quinn might play George Harrison, though official confirmation is yet to come.

The groundbreaking biographical movies about the band were initially unveiled in February, and they are intriguingly planned to present a unique viewpoint from each of the four band members.

At that point, Mendes, who directed Skyfall and Spectre, expressed in a statement: “I feel privileged to narrate the tale of the most outstanding rock group ever, and I’m eager to question the concept of what makes a cinema outing exciting.
