Paul Walker’s Brother Copes with Guilt After His Tragic Death

Cody Walker will soon be older than his older brother.

Over the past more than a decade since the unfortunate demise of Paul Walker in 2013, Cody, who is fifteen years younger than him, has been dealing with the reality that he will eventually exceed, and later match, the age Paul was when he passed away.

Cody expressed his sorrow to Francesca Amiker from TopMob News, stating that Paul died far too prematurely at the age of 40. He mentioned that as each year passes and he gets closer to 40 himself, it becomes more disheartening. It seems strange for him to acknowledge his current age of 36 and approaching 37, and he feels that every year beyond 40 will be a constant reminder of what Paul missed out on.

It’s a kind of survivor’s guilt, the FuelFest co-founder acknowledged.

He clarified, referring to reaching his forties as “the there.” He expressed a sense of guilt, questioning why certain individuals are taken away while others continue to live, seemingly against the norm. He found it utterly baffling and unjust.

However, amidst Cody’s journey of dealing with his grief and the intricate feelings that accompany it, he’s simultaneously discovered how to seize each opportunity life offers.

Cody expressed that he has learned to appreciate each day and express his love to those around him, especially his family. He makes sure to tell his children and wife daily that he loves them, and he always ends conversations with his parents by saying it too.

Since Paul’s car accident, Cody, who considers the Fast & Furious actor a significant influence in his life and someone he admired greatly, has been diligent in upholding his brother’s memory.

One method he’s employed is by organizing FuelFest: an amalgamation of a music festival and car show, where his enthusiasm for cars and racing intertwines with his commitment to community service and philanthropy. The event’s earnings are donated to Paul’s charity Reach out Worldwide, which enables first responders to travel to disaster zones and reinforce local relief efforts.

Since the car accident that occurred years ago involving Paul, who significantly impacted Cody’s life as someone he admired and aspired to be like, Cody has been dedicated to preserving his sibling’s memory.

One method he’s utilized is FuelFest – an event that merges music festival and car show, reflecting both his enthusiasm for automobiles and racing, as well as his commitment to community service and philanthropy. The revenue generated from this event is donated to Paul’s charity, Reach out Worldwide, enabling them to send first responders to disaster zones to reinforce local aid efforts.

Cody clarified that the goal was to unite all aspects of car culture in one location. He emphasized that this wasn’t an ordinary car show; instead, it aimed to embody the spirit of ‘The Fast and the Furious.’ This is a venue where people can immerse themselves in the sights, scents, and vibrations of the automotive world.

Since the launch of FuelFest, Cody claims he’s successfully collected a substantial sum, approximately half a million dollars, for Reach out Worldwide.

And for a car lover like him, it’s the perfect way to continuously honor Paul.

“It is the best thing ever,” Cody added. “I’m living the dream.”
