Peacemaker's John Cena Explains Why Fans Had to Wait So Long for Season 2

As a dedicated fan who has followed John Cena‘s career from the wrestling ring to the big screen, I can’t help but feel a sense of exhilaration as we inch closer to the return of Peacemaker. With the second season currently in production, it seems that the dance-fueled mayhem is set to continue, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!

The much-anticipated dance party of Peacemaker is moving closer to gracing our screens once more, as the Max series is in the midst of filming its second season. Starring John Cena as Christopher Smith / Peacemaker, this live-action series is set to join James Gunn and Peter Safran’s fresh DC Universe. Fans are eager to uncover what this transition means, and it appears that the second season might not debut until the latter part of 2025. However, recent remarks from Cena suggest that it will be well worth the wait, hinting that the premiere of these new episodes could be just around the corner.

Essentially, Cena clarified that he plays Peacemaker in the show. When our series became the top-rated on Max, and we unexpectedly resurrected a character who was supposed to be deceased, people loved it and wanted more. However, there was a change in management at DC, and James Gunn and Peter Safran asked for some time to ensure everything is done correctly. It was surprising because people were eager for more, but they said they had a plan and everything would fall into place if we trusted them. Now, filming daily, it seems like Season 2 will be here soon.

What Is Peacemaker Season 2 About?

Details regarding the second season of ‘Peacemaker’ are yet to be disclosed, as it’s currently being filmed and scheduled for release on Max at a future time. The main cast will return, including John Cena as Christopher Smith / Peacemaker, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase / Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

For Season 2 of “Peacemaker”, we have some new additions to the cast: Sol Rodriguez portrays Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows takes on Langston Fleury, and David Denman has a yet-to-be-specified role. Additionally, Frank Grillo will be returning as Rick Flag, Sr., who appears in the upcoming “Creature Commandos” animated series.

Is James Gunn Directing Peacemaker Season 2?

Due to his busy schedule filming DC Studios’ Superman movie, Gunn won’t be able to direct as many episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 as he did for the first season, where he directed the first, second, third, sixth, and eighth episodes.

Yes, we’ll be producing both “Superman” and “Peacemaker” concurrently; yes, I’ve penned every episode for both series; however, due to the need to release these shows as soon as possible, I won’t be able to direct all of them (I’ll only helm some), as Gunn has previously shared on social media.
