Peaky Blinders creator’s new drama casts The Responder and Normal People stars

As a seasoned cinephile with a deep appreciation for both classic and contemporary cinema, I can hardly contain my excitement over Netflix’s latest announcement regarding Steven Knight’s upcoming series, House of Guinness. The prospect of this period drama, set to explore the lives of the Guinness family and their extraordinary dynasty, is already an intriguing premise in itself. However, the casting news has taken it to a whole new level.

As a long-time fan of Steven Knight’s work and a dedicated Netflix subscriber, I’ve eagerly anticipated the release of his upcoming series, House of Guinness. I was thrilled when Netflix announced their plans for the show back in March, but my excitement reached new heights with today’s casting news. Having followed Knight’s career since his work on Peaky Blinders, I have high expectations for this new project. The addition of these talented actors to the cast only strengthens my belief that House of Guinness is going to be a must-watch series. I can hardly wait to see how their performances bring Knight’s captivating storytelling to life on the small screen.

In other words, a Knight production isn’t complete without recognizable stars, so it was expected that the new family drama would feature some well-known actors. Now, we know that James Norton (from “Happy Valley”), Anthony Boyle (“Masters of the Air”), Louis Partridge (“Enola Holmes”), and Emily Fairn from “The Responder” will headline the show.

In addition, Fionn O’Shea (Normal People), Niamh McCormack (Everything Now), Seamus O’Hara (Blue Lights), Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones), Dervla Kirwan (True Detective: Night Country), and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) have also signed up for the project.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with some truly exceptional actors throughout my career in film and television. Among them are Danielle Galligan, David Wilmot, and Hilda Fay. Each one brings a unique depth and richness to their craft that leaves an indelible mark on any project they’re a part of.

An illustrious ensemble of actors will bring to life the captivating tale of the Guinness family, known for their lasting fame and influence in European history.

As an assistant movie critic, I’m excited to share that acclaimed creator, writer, and executive producer Steven Knight has assembled an extraordinary cast and crew for his latest project. According to Knight himself, “I couldn’t be more thrilled about the exceptional talent we have on board to bring this inspiring family story to life.”

Anne Mensah, Netflix’s Vice President for UK Content, expressed her excitement: “It’s a pleasure to begin this incredible adventure with Kudos, our valued partners.”

Steve Knight’s scripts have a timeless quality, reminiscent of classic novels, as they unfold the saga of the Guinness fortune’s four heirs. Their lives and relationships are dramatically transformed in an instant, leaving us eagerly anticipating the brilliant adaptation by Tom Shankland and his exceptional ensemble.

As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but express my excitement when I hear about an exceptional cast brought together for a promising script. In this case, Karen Wilson, Co-Managing Director of Kudos, shares my sentiment: “I couldn’t ask for a better group of actors to breathe life into Steven’s brilliant scripts. We’re merely at the beginning of production, but I have no doubt that this will be a gripping drama that audiences worldwide won’t want to miss.”

According to the House of Guinness summary: In the 19th century, Dublin and New York serve as backdrops for this retelling. The story unfolds following Sir Benjamin Guinness’s demise, a man who brought remarkable prosperity to the Guinness brewery. We will explore how Sir Benjamin’s will influenced the lives of his four grown children – Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben – as well as a cast of Dublin residents connected to the Guinness phenomenon.

Certainly, Knight is no less a veteran when it comes to television, with notable roles in recent productions such as This Town and The Veil under her belt. Additionally, there have been reports that Knight will rejoin the Peaky Blinders cast, featuring alongside Cillian Murphy for an upcoming Netflix movie. Murphy is set to resume his portrayal of Tommy Shelby in this project.

In the upcoming stages of the Knight project, watch out for new developments regarding House of Guinness, as it has recently begun production.

House of Guinness will be coming to Netflix.
