In January 2024, it was announced that Isabela Merced would join Season 2 of “The Last of Us” as the character Dina. For those unfamiliar with “The Last of Us Part II”, Dina is a significant new love interest for Ellie, who she accompanies on her latest journey. Dina also has a previous relationship with Jesse, which adds an intriguing and complex dynamic to her relationships with both Ellie and Jesse.

Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann declared that Dina is affectionate, intelligent, adventurous, amusing, ethical, risky, and instantly endearing. Instead of hunting for an actor who can naturally portray these traits, they found Isabela Merced right away. We are thrilled to welcome her into our team.

Previously, Merced discussed her character in “The Last of Us” and highlighted how Dina is the unique character who experiences a relatively positive conclusion. As she expressed to Total Film, “[Dina in TLOU] is like a beacon in Ellie’s life, within Ellie’s world. It seems that this sentiment is shared by many, as upon examination of the game itself, Dina appears to be the only one who receives a somewhat favorable ending.” She added, “Everyone else either faces hardship or meets an unfortunate end!

Regarding Merced’s role as Hawkgirl in Superman, she hinted about her superhero costume to fans. “Some images have been leaked online,” Merced shared with Deadline. “But I believe James [Gunn] has a clear vision, and this particular suit is tailored for this specific narrative in the story. I can’t reveal much more, but let me tell you, the helmet was my favorite part. It’s fantastic. It’s tough. It’s spot-on.

In February, fans at last caught a glimpse of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards in the debut trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”. Previously unveiled concept art for both “Fantastic Four” and “Avengers: Doomsday” were published online, providing a more authentic comic book depiction of Reed Richards. Interestingly, Pedro Pascal sports his distinctive mustache in the “FF” trailer, but lacks Mister Fantastic’s iconic white sideburns as depicted in the comics. However, the leaked concept art shows Pascal trading his mustache for the beloved white sideburns that fans associate with Reed Richards.
