Being a fan of Pedro Pascal can be quite challenging due to his characters frequently meeting untimely, heart-wrenching ends on screen. Where Sean Bean’s roles in ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ were known for such tragic exits, Pascal seems to have taken over that grim mantle. The more endearing the character he portrays, the more dramatic, brutal, and intricate the death scene becomes.
Pascal himself acknowledges his reputation, frequently admitting during interviews that his characters usually encounter grim fates. To avoid revealing details about upcoming works, this compilation focuses on films and series that have already been released to the public.
Here’s every single time Pedro Pascal has died on screen.

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ (1999)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a much-loved supernatural drama, with Sarah Michelle Gellar (I Know What You Did Last Summer) as the lead character. Over a span of seven years, it was broadcasted, and Pascal made his appearance in Season 4, Episode 1. This marked his fourth television acting role. In this part, he portrayed Eddie, a fellow freshman whom Buffy encounters during her initial college semester. They connect over their shared feelings of being overwhelmed, exchanging a heartfelt discussion before going their separate ways.
A Stake Through the Heart
Unluckily for Eddie, he encounters a band of vampires shortly after bidding farewell to Buffy. These creatures transformed Eddie into one of them, and on the following night, it fell upon Buffy to drive a stake through his heart, ending his life. However, Pascal was unaware at the time that this initial role would establish a pattern for tragic endings throughout his career.

‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ (2011)
In the 2000s, Pascal made appearances on three distinct “Law & Order” series, however, it’s the “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” that garners the most conversation. This long-running series, which began in 1999 and is still going strong, has seen 26 seasons thus far. Pascal’s character, Agent Greer, debuted in Season 12, Episode 24, marking the season finale. In this episode, Agent Greer steps in to take Eddie Skinner (Michael Raymond-James) into custody. Skinner was a suspect that Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Fin Tutuola (Ice-T) had apprehended during a murder investigation. However, Greer is interested in Skinner because he may be able to aid in dismantling an illegal smuggling operation.
Shot in Police Custody
In the unfolding events, I found out that Greer had handed Skinner an illicit firearm, leading us both to be detained by NYPD. The victim’s daughter, Jenna (Hayley McFarland), was summoned at the start of the episode to identify Skinner. Upon her arrival at the precinct, however, a tragic twist unfolded: in retaliation for her mother’s death, she took their lives, shooting both Skinner and Greer. In response, Stabler fired back, taking Jenna’s life as well.

‘Nikita’ (2013)
Nikita
Description: Nikita is an action-packed thriller series that aired on The CW for four seasons and was inspired by the 1990 French film La Femme Nikita. Maggie Q (Fear the Night) plays the leading role as Nikita, a former member of a clandestine government agency called Division, who is now determined to dismantle this organization. In Season 3, Episode 8, Pascal makes an appearance as Liam, a renegade agent who has previously worked for Division.
Caught Up in Espionage
In a turn of events, Nikita intercepts Liam as he attempts to burglarize the DEA building in search of proof. Engrossed by Nikita, Liam fails to notice Owen (Devon Sawa) poised with a gun through the entrance. Without warning, Owen fires at Liam, fatally wounding him. They elect to let the DEA discover his lifeless body.

‘Game of Thrones’ (2014)
The TV series “Game of Thrones,” which aired on HBO, was an immensely popular fantasy show that ran for eight seasons and significantly impacted pop culture. It also catapulted Pascal into the limelight. In the fourth season, Pascal made his debut as Oberyn Martell from the desert realm of Dorne, instantly becoming adored by viewers. Oberyn is known for his charisma, wit, and unpredictability. During season 4, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) stood trial for King Joffrey’s murder, and Oberyn volunteered to fight in Tyrion’s defense during the trial by combat. This was done to avenge Gregor Clegane, Cersei Lannister’s champion, who had killed Oberyn’s sister, Ellia Martell, many years prior.
The Mountain and the Viper
The intense battle between characters Oberyn (“The Viper”) and Gregor (“The Mountain”) in Season 4, Episode 8 is widely remembered. These two formidable fighters showcased their skills effectively, leveraging their strengths throughout the encounter. However, Oberyn’s premature victory led to a fatal mistake – he pressured Gregor to admit to the murder of Elia. In a swift turn of events, Gregor stumbled Oberyn and sent him crashing to the ground. After confessing, Gregor cruelly blinded Oberyn by gouging out his eyes, and in an act of ultimate brutality, crushed his skull. This scene was shockingly violent and deeply disheartening for fans who had hoped that Oberyn would emerge victorious. Despite this tragic end, it wasn’t the last time we saw Pascal on screen.

‘Graceland’ (2014)
Graceland is a crime drama that follows a group of undercover agents residing together in Southern California. This series aired on the USA network for three seasons, with Pascal appearing in 11 episodes towards the beginning of Season 1. He portrays Juan Badillo, an FBI supervisor who guides Agent Mike Warren (Aaron Tveit) during his investigation against Senior FBI Agent Paul Briggs (Daniel Sunjata).
Mistaken Identity
In my film critique perspective, I found myself deeply engrossed in the intense scene where the protagonist, Briggs, finds himself embroiled in an altercation with his fellow character, Badillo, under the influence of alcohol. Unbeknownst to him, Badillo is actually an FBI agent, but to Briggs, he appears as a notorious killer known as Jangles. In a tragic turn of events, Briggs, mistaking Badillo for his adversary, ends up shooting and killing him. To cover his tracks, Briggs transports the body to a secluded location and buries it there. This gripping sequence sets the stage for the rest of the story, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.

‘Bloodsucking Bastards’ (2015)
Early on, Pascal was frequently seen on TV shows, but after the acclaimed series “Game of Thrones”, he began landing more film roles. One such movie is “Bloodsucking Bastards”, a comedy-horror production directed by Brian James O’Connell (“Hell Den”). In this film, Fran Kranz (“The Cabin in the Woods”) portrays Evan, an office worker who gets overlooked for a promotion and later discovers that his new boss is a vampire. Enter Pascal: he plays Evan’s manager, Max Phillips.
Staked in the Heart Again
In the office, Max is transforming colleagues into vampires. To counteract this, Evan and his coworker, Tim (Joey Kern), gather office supplies as weapons to confront them in battle. Ultimately, Max meets his demise at the hands of Evan and his girlfriend, Amanda (Emma Fitzpatrick). Using a board cutter, Evan pierces Max’s head, while Amanda drives a stake through his heart. Notably, this is the second instance of a character from a Pascal film being staked, following Buffy.

‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ (2017)
As a fan, I’m thrilled to share that “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” is a follow-up to the 2014 blockbuster “Kingsman: The Secret Service.” In this continuation, my favorite character, Kingsman agent Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (portrayed by Taron Egerton), joins forces with Statesman, an American intelligence unit. This collaboration arises when the Kingsman headquarters is viciously attacked and many of its agents are lost at the hands of drug lord Poppy Adams (played by Julianne Moore). During his time with Statesman, Eggsy discovers that his mentor, Harry Hart (Colin Firth), who was thought to have perished in the initial film, is miraculously alive.
Meat Grinder
In the Kingsman series, Pascal takes on the role of Jack, alias Whiskey, who initially appears as an accommodating and supportive Statesman agent. However, it’s later unveiled that he is secretly working for The Golden Circle. The combat sequences in this franchise are truly spectacular, and Whiskey’s demise is particularly gruesome. Working together, Eggsy and Harry engage him in a fierce battle, eventually shoving Whisky into a meat grinder, resulting in his death. Afterward, they proceed to save the world.

‘The Equalizer 2’ (2018)
In simple terms, “Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer 2” sees Denzel Washington reprise his role as Robert McCall, a former Marine and ex-DIA/DCS officer from “Training Day“. Following the murder of his friend and fellow agent, Susan Plummer (played by Melissa Leo), McCall embarks on a mission to unmask all those involved in her death and seek retribution. The culprit turns out to be Pascal, McCall’s former partner and current DIA operative who has taken the dark path of becoming a contract killer.
Tossed Into the Sea
In an attempt to coerce the elusive Robert out of hiding, Dave captures a young artist named Miles Whittaker (Ashton Sanders), but Robert proves to be a step ahead in every move he makes. The Equalizer films are renowned for their inventive fight scenes, and the sequence leading up to Dave’s death is no exception. In the climactic confrontation, Robert and Dave engage on a watchtower overlooking the sea. Their battle ensues, culminating in Robert using Dave’s own knife to stab him in the abdomen before delivering a fatal neck wound, ultimately sending Dave plummeting into the ocean.

‘Drive-Away Dolls’ (2024)
Under the direction of Ethan Coen (of “Honey Don’t!” fame), “Drive-Away Dolls” unfolds as a humorous crime drama set against the backdrop of a road trip. The main characters, Jamie and Marian, portrayed by Margaret Qualley (“The Substance”) and Geraldine Viswanathan (“You’re Cordially Invited”), find themselves in possession of a valuable item that everyone seems eager to acquire. Initially, Pascal makes an appearance at the film’s onset as Santos, the owner of this coveted item.
A Man Without a Head
Swiftly, Santos is trapped and brutally killed by those pursuing the case. His assassin beheads him in an extended, grotesquely unsettling sequence. Later on, Jamie and Marian discover Santos’s decapitated head in their car’s trunk, along with the case. Interestingly, in this film, Santos’s severed head appears more frequently than Pascal himself does. Remarkably, the head is an impressive replica of his likeness as well.

‘Gladiator II’ (2024)
The movie titled “Gladiator II” serves as a continuation and grand historical drama sequel to Ridley Scott’s 2000 film, “Gladiator“. In this sequel, Paul Mescal takes on the role of Lucius Verus Aurelius, the son of Maximus Decimus Meridius (played by Russell Crowe). Much like his father, Lucius is compelled to engage in gladiatorial combat within the Colosseum. Pascal portrays General Acacius, a Roman army general who tragically slays Lucius’s wife at the beginning of the film. Interestingly, it remains unclear to Lucius that Acacius is not only his mother Lucilla’s (portrayed by Connie Nielsen) husband but also the perpetrator of his wife’s death.
Murdered in the Colosseum
Acacius confronts Lucius within the Colosseum following their betrayal of the emperors, accompanied by Lucilla. Eager for retribution, Lucius targets Acacius, but finds himself unable to harm his wife’s child. Instead, Lucius decides against taking Acacius’s life. This decision angers the emperors who command their soldiers to eliminate Acacius. From above in the stands, they launch arrows at him. The manner of Acacius’s death, raining down from the stands, sparks a riot that compels the emperors to abandon the stadium.
