In an exciting development, Sky Kids is breathing life into a cherished book character for the very first time through a fresh 2D animated preschool show titled “My Friend Maisy.
In line with the popular children’s books penned by Lucy Cousins, character Maisy will come alive through the writing of Matilda Tristram, who is known for her work on Peppa Pig. This development gives fans globally an exciting opportunity to listen to Maisy speak, laugh, and sing for the first time, accompanied by her friends Tallulah, Eddie, Charley, and Cyril.
The official statement says: “Maisy demonstrates that when you’re curious and kind, there’s no limit to what you can achieve – from journeying to the moon on a rocket, gliding along rainbows, mending cars in her garage, and even encountering striped zebras!
Lucy Murphy, Head of Children’s Content at Sky, expressed her enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to collaborate with BBC Studios, Trustbridge Entertainment, and Lucy Cousins to modernize the beloved character Maisy from the classic books, making her come alive for our Sky Kids audience.
My Friend Maisy consistently radiates happiness in each installment, offering an ideal mix of excitement and entertainment tailored for younger audiences.
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve been following the journey of Maisy, the beloved mouse character, since the ’90s. It’s not the first time she’s graced our screens; an animated series based on her exciting escapades premiered on CITV back in 1999.
The Managing Director of BBC Studios Kids & Family, Cecilia Persson, stated: “This lively new series maintains the essence of Lucy Cousins’s books with their vivid artwork, offbeat humor, and enchanting allure, all while expanding the horizons of traditional preschool storytelling, allowing children to experience Maisy in a completely fresh way.
Last year, the BBC first revealed plans for this series, and it’s a collaboration between BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions and Trustbridge Entertainment on the production of “My Friend Maisy.
