Percy Jackson and the Olympians Casts Sandra Bernhard Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho for Season 2

As a seasoned gamer and lifelong Percy Jackson fan, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation about the upcoming second season of Disney+’s hit show, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” The Gray Sisters, known for their unique charm and wit in the books, are finally getting their due on screen, with comedy powerhouses Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho playing Anger, Tempest, and Wasp respectively.

For the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, airing soon and already breaking records on Disney+, we’ll see the Gray Sisters make an appearance. At D23, Disney unveiled the talented actresses who will bring these beloved characters to life. Sandra Bernhard portrays Anger, Kristen Schaal takes on Tempest, and Margaret Cho embodies Wasp. In real life, all three women are accomplished stand-up comedians, which suggests a humorous role for their characters. Within the storyline, the Gray Sisters run a taxi company in New York City, creating opportunities for interaction with some of the young protagonists.

As a gamer, I can’t help but feel a chill down my spine when I think about the Gray sisters. You see, I’ve heard tales of how Perseus, back in his day, crossed paths with them and ended up swiping their precious eye before flinging it into a lake. Guess that’s why they’re not exactly welcoming to heroes like us.

As a devoted fan, I’ve always found the trio in the books portrayed as ancient and somewhat fearsome. I can only imagine how they’ll bring this look to life on screen, whether it’s through intricate makeup or if Disney decides that such a transformation might make their new talents unrecognizable. In the 2013 film, “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters,” the Gray Sisters were brilliantly brought to life by Mary Birdsong, Missi Pyle, and Yvette Nicole Brown.

It’s quite possible that the storyline for the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians draws inspiration, if not directly, then at least in a general sense, from the second book in the series, titled The Sea of Monsters. In this tale, Percy and his companions embark on a mission to rescue Grover, a satyr, from the Cyclops Polyphemus, and they also seek the Golden Fleece to safeguard their camp.

Here’s the official synopsis for the show’s first season:

The initial season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is adapted from the first book in Rick Riordan’s well-received series, titled “The Lightning Thief“. In this eight-episode journey, Walker Scobell, known for his role in “The Adam Project“, takes on the title character, a demigod named Percy. The story follows Percy as he is accused of stealing Zeus’s master bolt and sets out to clear his name by returning it before the Summer Solstice deadline. If he fails, the conflict among the gods of Mount Olympus could lead to disastrous consequences for the world.

In addition to the main cast, the series features Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Glynn Turman as Chiron, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Charlie Bushnell as Luke, Adam “Edge” Copeland as Ares, Jay Duplass as Hades, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, Timothy Omundson as Hephaestus, Lance Reddick as Zeus, and Toby Stephens as Poseidon.

The current first season is available for streaming on Disney+, but as of now, there’s no announced release date for the second season.
