Persona 3 Reload Episode Aigis released

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I have witnessed the evolution of RPGs from their humble beginnings to the intricate narratives and immersive experiences we enjoy today. The release of Persona 3 Reload Episode Aigis is a testament to this journey, but sadly, it falls short in meeting expectations for many fans.

The additional episode for the character Aigis, titled “Persona 3 Reload” Episode Aigis, is currently accessible and can be downloaded as an add-on to the main game.

This additional game content is a retelling of a supplementary storyline found in revised editions of the initial release of “Persona 3”. In English, this additional chapter is commonly referred to as “The Answer”, but for Japanese fans, it’s more recognizable as “Episode Aigis”.

Originally, a fresh edition called “Persona 3 FES” was necessary to experience that game. Nowadays, it’s included with the Expansion Pack for the updated version, “Persona 3 Reload”.

In a marriage of both titles, this story DLC is now out as Episode Aigis – The Answer.

Minor endgame spoilers for Persona 3 Reload ahead.

Persona 3 Reload Episode Aigis is out

Persona 3 Relaod DLC Episode Aigis is available from September 10, 2024.

Just like the original version, you can find it on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X/S, PC (Windows) and Steam platform.

The events unfold post-conclusion of the primary campaign. It delves into the struggles of the S.E.E.S team, dealing with sorrow and bereavement following the main storyline’s conclusion.

In this particular episode, you’ll find yourself guiding Aigis, a cherished robot ally, through the storyline. Her social link stands out, revealing her journey towards understanding her human qualities. The main character isn’t playable in this instance, but the rest of S.E.E.S remains part of the cast and companions.

Additionally, a unique character, named Metis, joins the party only in the expansion pack. Much like Aigis, she is a shadow-tracking robot. However, she assumes a protective role towards Aigis, serving as a sort of older sibling figure to her.

In Episode Aigis, there are a few adjustments made to the original FES version, one of which is the inclusion of the same five difficulty levels found in the main game.

In addition, your progress made in the Persona Compendium will continue into Episode Aigis, but it only applies up until the highest difficulty setting. Unfortunately, Aigis won’t be able to summon any Personas that are stronger than her character level, ensuring a balanced challenge throughout the game.

Is the DLC worth it?

For years, dedicated fans of “Persona 3” have been eagerly anticipating the adaptation of its Epilogue content, having already appreciated the faithful yet enhanced remake known as “Reload”. Similarly, novice fans who were introduced to “Persona 3” through “Reload” have been looking forward to consuming more of its captivating narrative.

Regrettably, I must mention that the current price of Episode Aigis, which stands at 35 USD, seems quite high for its current value.

Initially, you should know that this DLC primarily focuses on combat. Although it’s interspersed with scenes for story development, it largely adheres to “The Answer” and unfolds almost entirely within the Shadow’s realm. The typical mix of life simulation and dungeon exploration in “Persona” is heavily skewed towards the latter in this case.

As a passionate admirer, I must admit that while the intense battle sequences are thrilling, they seem to relentlessly pile up, often slowing down the story’s advancement. There aren’t many pauses or changes in pace to offer respite from the constant combat, which can make the narrative feel a bit tiresome at times.

Lastly, it’s worth noting the debated choice to omit the DLC episode in the Deluxe Version of Persona 3 Reload.

Initially and upon purchasing, the Deluxe Edition of “Persona 3 Reload” guaranteed its buyers that they would receive all existing and forthcoming downloadable content.

Although the Episode Aigis expansion pass content isn’t included in the Deluxe Edition, some may contend that it should have been a part of the main game from the start, given its original presence in FES (as seen in Persona 3 Reload). This is because the adaptation in the game remains faithful to the source material.

Based on our advice, it’s best for players to hold off buying the DLC during regular pricing, especially if they are dedicated fans of the Persona 3 series, deeply involved in the storyline, and prepared to endure prolonged combat sequences.
