Persona 4 Remake May Be Announced Soon

It appears fans of the JRPG Persona might be in for an exciting wait over the coming months. A few years ago, a Japanese domain named “p4re.jp” was registered. This has sparked talk about a remake for the 2006 PS2 game Persona 4, given its domain format resembles that of Persona 5. If history repeats itself, speculation may soon turn into reality, as we might see an official announcement of a Persona 4 remake.

Thanks to a keen-eyed user named Faz, the domain “p4re.jp” was registered today. The identity of the registrant remains hidden, leaving some uncertainty about whether this is related to a potential Persona 4 remake or not, despite the high likelihood. However, it seems to be the URL for a website, given its similarity in format with previous games in the series such as Persona 3 Reload (p3re.jp) and Persona 5 Royal (p5r.jp). If Atlus follows the same timeline as Persona 3 Reload, this could suggest a first glimpse of the potential Persona 4 remake might be unveiled within the next three months.

Approximately two years ago, the domain p3re.jp was first registered. Three months following this registration, Persona 3 Reload was unveiled.

Could the remake of Persona 4 potentially be unveiled at a major event? With all the video showcases these days, it can be challenging to keep up. However, given its popularity and size, it seems more fitting for a grand reveal. For instance, Persona 3 Reload was introduced at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2023, which took place in June. As of now, Microsoft hasn’t announced a significant showcase for 2025, but if they do have a big event this year, it could be where we see Persona 4. Another possibility is Summer Game Fest 2025, which is scheduled for June, as that could also be an ideal spot for the remake announcement.

Following the release of “Persona 3 Reload” last year, the well-known leaker @MbKKssTBhz5 on X hinted that Atlus and Sega might be developing three more remakes from the Persona series. More specifically, it was proposed that the original “Persona”, “Persona 2”, and “Persona 4” would undergo a revamp at some point in the future. Although the extent of these remakes wasn’t elaborated, it was mentioned that they wouldn’t all resemble “Persona 3 Reload”.

Last year, another clue regarding the remake of “Persona 4” surfaced subtly. Singer Shihoko Hirata hinted at her involvement in an unnamed project. Her notable contributions are in the soundtrack for “Persona 4,” including hits like “Time to Make History” and “Shadow World.” Additionally, a photo emerged of her working at MIT Studio (Studio 2) in Tokyo, Japan – a studio known for recording “Persona” soundtracks. Yet, the specifics of Hirata’s project remain a secret, as no details have been officially disclosed.

Originally debuting in 2008 for PlayStation 2, Persona 4 was warmly received by critics, earning an average score of 90 based on 47 reviews aggregated by Metacritic. After its initial release, it was enhanced and re-released as Persona 4 Golden for the PlayStation Vita, offering additional content. Now, this cherished JRPG is available on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Dive into our review to find out our thoughts on this beloved game.
