Peta Murgatroyd Not Returning to Dancing With the Stars

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for dance and family dynamics, I must say that Peta Murgatroyd’s decision to take a break from Dancing With the Stars is both understandable and commendable. After all, balancing motherhood and a demanding profession like professional dancing requires superhuman resilience and dedication.

Peta Murgatroyd is giving her dancing feet a rest.

Approximately a month following the birth of her and Maks Chmerkovskiy’s newborn son, Milan Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Peta announced that she won’t be coming back for season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars”.

She mentioned during her August 29th Instagram Live that “Dancing with the Stars, I’m afraid I won’t be participating in this current season.”

She added, “It’s just too soon.”

In 2011, I became part of the dance troupe on the competition series during its twelfth season, and then, from season 13 onwards, I transitioned to a professional dancer.

In the realm of dance competitions, there’s nothing more thrilling than that Mirror Ball trophy, and guess who’s had the honor of lifting it not once, but twice? That’s right, yours truly! The first time was back in season 14, where I danced my heart out with none other than Donald Driver. And then, just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, along came season 22, where I partnered up with the incredible Nyle DiMarco. It’s a moment I’ll cherish forever!

More recently, Peta (who has sons Shai, aged 7, and Rio, 13 months with Maks) was partnered with Barry Williams for season 32. She began filming merely 10 weeks after welcoming Rio into the world. Eager to get back to dancing, she shared this desire publicly at the time.

Peta shared with TopMob News in September that she truly yearns for dance and performances. She noted that this event happens just once a year, but if she can arrange childcare assistance for a couple of hours daily, she will definitely make it happen.

The 38-year-old also noted that a big part of wanting to be part of the cast was because she loves “working and meeting new people.”

I was incredibly grateful to have Barry, whom I affectionately referred to as a “treasure,” by my side throughout that season. He truly made all the difference!

“Barry’s been an amazing person to have in my life,” she said. “So, I’m grateful.”

The dancing duo ultimately came in seventh place during their season together.

Besides Peta, Artem Chigvintsev and Lindsay Arnold will not be participating in Dancing With the Stars season 33, as both have recently announced their departure from the show on TikTok.
