Pete Davidson Reveals How Much SNL Cast Members Really Make

As a seasoned connoisseur of sketch comedy, I must say that the list you’ve compiled is nothing short of a roll call of comedic royalty. Each of these individuals has graced our screens with their wit, charm, and impeccable timing, leaving an indelible mark on the annals of Saturday Night Live (SNL) history.

Live From New York, it’s time to earn a paycheck.

A number of renowned former and present cast members of ‘Saturday Night Live’ shared memories of their tenure on the show, and some, like Pete Davidson, disclosed what they did with their initial earnings from SNL.

Pete, who was a regular cast member on the iconic comedy series until his departure in 2022, playfully remarked to the camera in a video shared for SNL’s 50th anniversary on the New York magazine Instagram account (December 4). He joked about his salary saying, “It’s around $3,000 per episode, so I can easily afford a nice dinner.

It’s not just Pete who was honest about what their paycheck covered; Jason Sudeikis shared similar thoughts on the subject, but with a focus on his more down-to-earth spending habits and mentioned that the funds weren’t substantial.

The actor from Ted Lasso admitted that his earnings weren’t substantial enough to afford significant purchases. He mentioned that living in New York and paying rent was likely the largest expense he incurred following his first year as a writer for Saturday Night Live.

In addition to well-loved SNL performers like Seth Meyers, James Austin Johnson, and Cheri Oteri, it was revealed that they indulged in high-end furniture purchases. Meanwhile, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bowen Yang confessed to spending beyond their budgets on luxury shoe designs.

In the recorded footage, I confessed that I ventured to the store just across the road, Saks, and purchased a set of Gucci footwear. You know, the style that’s been quite popular, yet I must admit, I don’t feel overly trendy sporting them outside today.

Saturday Night Live, now in its 50th season, will commemorate half a century of humor early the following year.

NBC has shared the news that on February 16th, a variety of past and present SNL actors, along with numerous famous personalities, will unite for a three-hour prime-time event broadcast on NBC and Peacock streaming service.

10 times I’ve been on hosting duties, one of those being the groundbreaking remote-filmed episode during the coronavirus pandemic – and guess who was there? None other than America’s beloved father! When he’s in Studio 8H, you know it’s going to be a delight. Not convinced? Just say the magic words: David S. Pumpkins!

In 2008, Hamm made a remarkable debut as a host, leaving audiences speechless with his impressive sense of humor. Since then, he has hosted the event twice more and occasionally surprised us with unexpected appearances.

From his unforgettable “Jon Hamm’s John Ham” sketch—you know, lunch meat you eat on the toilet—to his live-action Ace in an adaptation of the iconic Ambiguously Gay Duo animated sketch, he’s ingratiated himself with cast in a way few other hosts ever have.

There’s probably no one on Earth who is more dedicated to their work than the legend from “Bridesmaids.” For instance, during her first time hosting, in 2011, she doused herself in Hidden Valley ranch dressing for a joke – a clear demonstration of her commitment.

Within just under a decade, she has become a member of the notorious Five-Timers Club and started showing up frequently, particularly during the agitated stint of Sean Spicer, during his time in the Trump administration.

Almost every celebrity on this list had the potential to become a permanent cast member of Saturday Night Live, given their abilities. For a while, Justin Timberlake appeared to be a strong contender for this role. His skits such as “Omeletteville,” “D–k in a Box,” and “Barry Gibb Talk Show,” along with his five appearances as host, left indelible marks on pop culture. And let’s not forget his memorable performance as one of Beyonce’s backup dancers for “Single Ladies” alongside Bobby Moynihan and Andy Samberg – simply fantastic!

Only a small number of individuals have had the privilege of hosting SNL more than the legendary comedian, and surprisingly, he is the only one who has done it more than once. Over the course of 16 appearances in Studio 8H from 1976 to 2009, this comedian introduced unforgettable characters (such as the “wild and crazy” Festrunk Brothers and King Tut) and delivered one of the show’s most emotional moments, remembering the passing of Gilda Radner from cancer by reflecting on a beautiful dance they shared within the studio.

Apart from being connected to the Saturday Night Live (SNL) community through her relationship with Colin Jost, ScarJo has also left an unforgettable impact on the show since her first appearance in 2006 as a six-time host, creating lasting memories along the way.

She’s been ready to fill in whenever the show required someone to take on the role similar to Ivanka Trump, starred in the peculiar Shud the Mermaid scene alongside Kate McKinnon, and portrayed Lexi (daughter to Fred Armisen’s Mark) in the beloved sketch where they advertised chandeliers, ceramic busts, marble columns, and porcelain fountains.

Unlike others listed here, the late television legend appeared on Saturday Night Live just once. Remarkably, at 88 years old, she became the oldest host the show has ever had. This unique appearance was made even more significant due to a successful Facebook campaign led by fans following her role in The Proposal.

Her inclusion on this list is not surprising given her undeniable humor. One of our favorite sketches from that episode features Tina Fey as a census taker, unsuccessfully trying to extract a straight answer from White in an absurd scenario.

A member of the Five Timer’s Club, Johnson earned his spot on this list the minute he agreed to do The Rock Obama. Enough said.

Amongst his extensive list of hosting roles and frequent appearances as ex-President Donald Trump, Baldwin seems to be the star who is most synonymous with Saturday Night Live (SNL), other than those officially employed. From iconic sketches like Canteen Boy and Schweddy Balls to impressions of Tony Bennett and, indeed, Trump, Baldwin has provided countless memorable moments during his numerous trips to Studio 8H.
