Pharrell Williams Kept Met Gala Co-Host Secret for Years!

Pharrell Williams had to keep his happiness for the 2025 Met Gala a secret.

This year, a 52-year-old individual is serving as a co-chair for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Annual Costume Institute Benefit, alongside Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, and Anna Wintour from Vogue. However, the role for the “Happy” singer was assigned several years ago.

In his own words, Pharrell, serving as the menswear creative director for Louis Vuitton, received an invitation to jointly host the event from Anna following his successful fashion show during Paris Fashion Week in June of 2023.

At our usual spot, The Ritz, for breakfast, as is our custom, she mentioned to me, “I’d like you to take the helm in 2025,” Pharrell shared with Zuri Hall from TopMob during the 2025 Met Gala. However, I needed to maintain confidentiality about it. So, we’ve been quietly preparing for this event and planning ahead for two years now.

The music producer, adorned in a bespoke Louis Vuitton suit and preparing at The Mark Hotel for the event, expressed his sense of pride in being part of this year’s exhibition. This exhibition was influenced by Monica L. Pharrell elaborated, “It provides us with an occasion and stage to honor the truly remarkable, strong color of black. You admire black outfits like dresses, shoes, clothing, TVs, devices, sunglasses, aircraft, and cars. However, this is a time for us to acknowledge Black people.

Without a doubt, the versatile individual, accompanied by his spouse Helen Lasichanh, had expressed his eagerness regarding the evening’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” motif and “Dress to Impress: Tailor-made for You” dress code.

Pharrell stated during the April 29th episode of the Run-Through with Vogue podcast, “Tonight promises to be a highly significant and stunning event as we honor the color Black. We’re not just celebrating the visual aspect, but also the ideas, struggles, advancements, and possibilities that it represents.
