On June 24th, Kinetic Games plans to unveil the “Chronicle” upgrade for the initial, early access version of their four-player cooperative psychological horror game, Phasmophobia, as the developers have revealed.
This update, referred to as the “most significant one so far,” brings about a comprehensive transformation in evidence gathering. It introduces three novel types of evidence, such as the Sound Evidence and the advanced Sound Recorder with three tiers. The Journal has been completely revamped, leveling and progression have undergone revisions, the main menu interface has been given a facelift, and there are numerous chilling surprises in store.
Here are the details:
New Equipment: Introducing the Sound Recorder
The main focus of the “Chronicle” update lies in the spine-tingling introduction of Sound Evidence, a novel type of paranormal proof obtained through the new Sound Recorder feature. This innovative gameplay aspect will introduce a fresh layer of complexity, uncovering subtle hints that could be lost amidst terrified cries. With three upgrade levels (T1, T2, and T3), this new gear grants access to increasingly advanced audio detection capabilities. Players can record sounds from ghost encounters, Spirit Box interactions, and Paranormal Sounds such as those detected by the Parabolic Microphone.
Journal Overhaul
In the upcoming “Chronicle” update, the way ghost hunters collect evidence will undergo a significant transformation. The interface is set for a complete overhaul, replacing the existing Photos tab with a completely revamped Media tab. This new tab will categorize all gathered proof into three distinct sections—Photos, Videos, and Sound Recordings (a fresh addition). This reorganization aims to enhance the investigation experience by providing a more engaging, immersive environment where players can document photographic, visual, and auditory paranormal evidence effortlessly in a single location. To achieve a flawless investigation, investigators must now collect a diverse range of unique media items, including new paranormal instances such as EMF fluctuations, ghostly encounters, and fleeting glimpses of spectral entities.
Redesigned Evidence System
In addition to its existing features, “Chronicle” is set to unveil an upgraded media reward system. The initial acquisition of any type of media will be designated as “Unique”, offering enhanced cash and XP incentives upon completion of each mission. Subsequent acquisitions of the same media type will be categorized as “Duplicates”, yielding smaller rewards. This updated system also introduces tier bonuses based on the gear utilized, and includes all media captures in the Reward Multiplier, thereby amplifying the significance of every photograph, recording, and observation to the overall payouts of the players.
…And More!
The “Chronicle” update will offer several significant changes: a revamped leveling and progression system, an updated media quality system, a Sound Recorder feature, and a fresh Main Menu interface. Simultaneously, the Phasmophobia team has been diligently addressing bugs to enhance the gameplay experience for players, and there are many more surprises yet to be revealed when the update is released.
This year, the popular game Phasmophobia is set to unveil an eagerly awaited makeover of the Grafton Farmhouse, following the recent revamp of Bleasdale Farmhouse. The dilapidated and decaying Grafton mansion will soon sport fresh visuals, rearranged layouts, redecorated rooms, and a chilling new attic. The refreshed Grafton Farmhouse is due after “Chronicle” – keep an eye out for release dates!
As a fellow gamer, I’m pumped to share that I can jump into the supernatural horror game, Phasmophobia, right now! It’s now accessible through Early Access on my PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2, Xbox Series, or if I prefer, directly from Steam on my trusty PC. Let the ghost-hunting adventures begin!
