Phasmophobia film adaptation by Blumhouse announced

The movie version of the team-oriented psychological horror game “Phasmophobia” is being produced by Blumhouse Productions, the horror movie studio, as confirmed by its creators, Kinetic Games.

The movie will be made by Blumhouse, a studio recognized for producing horror films such as M3GAN, The Black Phone, and Five Nights at Freddy’s, in collaboration with Atomic Monster, the production company of James Wan, who is behind projects like Annabelle, The Nun, and the universe of The Conjuring.

We’re overjoyed to formally reveal that a movie adaptation of ‘Phasmophobia’ is underway—a significant milestone for our team at Kinetic Games, and the beginning of something truly remarkable,” said Daniel Knight, director of Kinecti Games and lead developer of ‘Phasmophobia’, in a statement. “Five years ago when the game was first launched, we never dreamt it would reach such great heights, and we’re deeply grateful to our dedicated community for the enduring influence ‘Phasmophobia’ has had on the gaming world and beyond. Collaborating with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster signifies a momentous new phase in the game’s journey, and we eagerly look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses.

Phasmophobia can be played right now in its Early Access phase on PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2, Xbox Series, and computers through Steam. Since it was first released in Early Access in 2020, it has been purchased 23 million times. The upcoming update, titled “Chronicle,” is scheduled for release on June 24.
