The sequel to “Death Stranding,” titled “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” is gearing up to be one of the most anticipated games in 2025, serving as a powerful successor to its predecessor. Yet, Kojima Productions has two additional projects in the pipeline – “OD,” a horror-centric game published by Xbox Game Studios, and “Physint,” an innovative stealth action intellectual property (IP) in collaboration with Sony.
According to Director Hideo Kojima, both games encountered challenges during development due to the SAG-AFTRA Strike, yet there appears to be some indication of when we might expect to see the release of Physint. However, it’s clear that we still have a bit of a wait ahead.
On Twitter, Ayako Terashima, who works with Kojima, shared a brief video of him perusing Le Film français, which contained an interview. Red Kong XIX from Resetera extracted the relevant text and used DeepL for translation. In this piece, Kojima talks about Physint needing “another 5 to 6 years” to complete.
Responding to a question about potentially directing a film one day, Kojima expressed his interest, saying, “Absolutely! Since leaving Konami, I’ve received numerous offers for game development in my independent studio, with stringent conditions attached. In addition to the ongoing development of Death Stranding 2, we also have Physint in progress. These projects are expected to keep me busy for another five or six years.
Perhaps, following this point, I might choose to create a movie. Movies have been a significant part of my upbringing, so directing could be seen as a form of homage. Moreover, I find myself in the later stages of life, and I’d prefer to embark on this venture while still young.
Should Physint be released between 2030 and 2031, speculation suggests it may appear on the PlayStation 6. However, regardless of its release timeline, there’s ample opportunity to gather further information about its official title, narrative, and gameplay aspects in the meantime.
Currently, take a look at this location to find out that Kojima views “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” as an updated rendition of “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain”. This PS5 exclusive is set to debut on June 26th.
