Physint Was Conceptualised Because Fans Want Hideo Kojima to Make a Game Like Metal Gear

As Death Stranding 2: On the Beach nears its June 26 launch, creator Hideo Kojima from Kojima Productions has begun discussing their next venture – a project called Physint. In a chat with Edge Magazine, as reported by GamesRadar, Kojima shared that he conceptualized Physint during his illness due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

After wrapping up Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, an idea sparked within me – I wanted to dive back into the realm of a game that feels like it’s straight outta Metal Gear. You see, I believe my fellow gamers are yearning for that unique experience once more. So here we go again, embarking on a new adventure with Physint!

As a passionate creator, I’ve been brimming with fresh concepts I long to bring to life. However, during the pandemic, my health took a toll, causing me to pause. Yet, in those quiet moments of recovery, the resounding desire from fans for something akin to Metal Gear echoed loudly. It sparked an idea – a brand-new espionage game. Upon reflection, I felt this notion held great promise.

Kojima mentioned that they had talks with Sony regarding the idea of Physint, and Sony was in agreement. He stated, “We looked into various possibilities, and we decided to go ahead with Physint.

It’s important to mention that the release of Physint, as announced in February 2024, is expected to happen at a later date. Kojima shared that while he can’t reveal too much just yet, the goal is to assemble advanced technology and global talent to develop a unique project called “Physint“. Following the launch of Death Stranding in 2024, Kojima mentioned there has been an abundance of innovative concepts. However, for the past eight years, fans worldwide on social media have constantly asked him to develop another Metal Gear title.

You know, I’ve been thinking about this, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned from all of you, it’s that you love a good challenge. So, I’m shifting gears a bit, still eager to create something fresh, but this time, I’m diving headfirst into the thrilling world of action-espionage gaming.

Following the release of “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” the studio plans to delve into two new projects. Firstly, they will be diving into “Physint,” and secondly, a horror game titled “OD” is in the pipeline for further development.
