Piers Morgan leaves Rupert Murdoch’s News UK to expand Uncensored YouTube channel

Piers Morgan is stepping down from News UK, owned by Rupert Murdoch, to devote more time to growing his Uncensored YouTube channel globally.

In January 2022, Morgan, who had previously held the editor position at Murdoch’s News of the World, rejoined News UK under a three-year contract. This agreement encompassed his role as a columnist for The Sun and The New York Post, as well as hosting programs on TalkTV.

In February 2024, his daily TalkTV show “Uncensored” transitioned exclusively to YouTube, whereas the linear TV version of TalkTV stopped airing altogether in March, transforming into an online streaming platform known as Talk.

Morgan and News UK have struck an agreement allowing him to acquire Uncensored via his production company, Wake Up Productions. However, News UK will maintain a business stake in the Uncensored brand.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve enjoyed my return to News immensely, and I’m overjoyed about our decision to maintain this partnership moving forward.

Having ownership of the brand empowers us to dedicate all our efforts towards making Uncensored self-sufficient as an individual enterprise, both editorially and financially. Eventually, this will enable us to expand beyond just myself and my content.

It’s evident that YouTube has significantly grown in power and influence following the latest U.S. election, with Uncensored being one of the most rapidly expanding programs globally on this platform. I’m genuinely thrilled about the possibilities that Uncensored holds.

According to Sky News, Morgan has entered into a four-year revenue-sharing agreement with News UK. This means that News UK will receive a share of the ad income produced by Uncensored up until 2029.

It’s said that Morgan continues to plan his book deal with HarperCollins, which is part of the Murdoch empire, and will continue contributing articles to News Corporation’s newspapers from time to time. However, he has yet to speak publicly about any other details regarding his fresh agreement with News UK.
