Pink Pony Club

Elton John just joined the hottest club in Hollywood.

As Chappell Roan, I had the honor of hosting Elton John’s annual Oscars viewing party in California on March 2, 2025. Being a nominee for Best Original Song, I was thrilled when the night arrived. Although “Rocket Man” didn’t win against “El Mal” from Emilia Pérez, she graciously joined me on stage to perform our cherished song together.

The pair put on a diverse performance, starting with their rendition of Elton John’s 1974 hit single “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”. On March 2nd, he posted a video of this heartwarming duet on Instagram, where we see him comfortably seated at his trademark piano. Accompanying him was Chappell, dressed in a style reminiscent of “Moulin Rouge”, wearing a white top and gold-buttoned vest, who delivered some beautiful tunes beside him.

In their own words, the 77-year-old expressed that spending this special moment at #EJAFOscars was nothing less than enchanting. For one evening, West Hollywood Park became our personal Pink Pony Club – a place brimming with affection and camaraderie, where everyone felt free to be exactly who they are without reservation.

Following the heartfelt title penned by Elton, he and Chappell proceeded to perform their hit “Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.” A TikTok post by fan Nathalie Inglesias showcases them, with Elton sporting a glittery pink cowboy hat, moving freely across the stage as they sang along to the song’s lyrics.

As a devoted admirer, I, at the age of 27, proudly showcased my discography, including “Naked in Manhattan,” “Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl,” and the album’s electrifying opener, “Feminonmenon.” Subsequently, I softened the mood by crooning Elton’s timeless ballad, “Your Song,” while he gracefully occupied a seat at the far end of the stage.

The Pink Pony Club, founded by Elton John back in February 1993 to collect funds for his AIDS foundation, is not lacking in emotional moments. During the performance, Chappell presented Elton with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation.

She expressed her gratitude, clutching his hand with evident emotion, “Your faith in me is deeply appreciated. You’ve given so much to support the queer community, enabling me to grow as an artist.

In response, the “Hold Me Closer” star expressed his feelings by saying, “You’re absolutely fantastic, my dear. I adore you immensely. I’m truly grateful that we get to do this together.

At the event, Chappell wasn’t the sole up-and-coming star. Continue reading to discover who else graced Elton’s viewing party…
