Just under a month before they celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary, the ex-professional motocross racer revealed one key to their long-lasting relationship.

In an interview with Us Weekly on December 19th, Carey explained that a key aspect of their relationship is open communication, especially during challenging times. He emphasized that marriage requires effort, and the couple continually work on resolving issues together.

The Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test star—who shares kids Willow, 13, and Jameson, 8, with Pink—added that the pair also share a certain trait in common: “We are highly, highly competitive people.”

Ever since Carey, aged 49, and Pink, also 49, tied the knot in January 2006, their union has seen its fair share of highs and lows; they even parted ways briefly in 2008 for nearly a year before reuniting.

In 2013, Pink explained to Redbook why she and her partner decided to reconcile: “People often ask us, ‘Why did you two get back together?’ Our answer is simple: We weren’t finished yet. And now we have our daughter Willow, which means there will always be more to explore together.
